And what would be the cost of Nationalisation? The markets responded negatively because they thought the Tories budget was uncosted. I don’t have a problem with nationalising transport. How would that help in the short term as far as inflation and interest rates?

No idea what it would cost, that’s why I said it should be explored, it wasn’t meant to help inflation and interest rates, it was more a long term vision of where we need to be as a country, my view is an integrated high quality transport system and one that is affordable to passengers is something we as a country should be looking to achieve. Inflation and the subsequent need for interest rates rise is a worldwide phenomenon however cutting taxes now is inflationary and works against the BOE in trying to stem it… hardly joined up thinking from the chancellor and PM.

Taking the @royal white stance here - he prides himself on never guessing or speculating on the future - we can only judge the way things are, not the way things might be.

Hes a sage fella.

Therefore, everything is a fckin mess and the people running the show are the only ones to blame.

Ergo sequitur

I agree with your point on the budget as I’ve said previously. It wasn’t what was needed at this moment in time. A more austere budget was what was needed but would be politically damaging. They can’t win.
My point still stands though, Labour have to stand up and say what they would do to become a credible alternative.

I don’t disagree that the Tories are a mess. Labour are the alternative. It’s time they and their members started to tell us all what they would do differently.

Well, it stands up to a point.

Firstly the Conservatives can't win as you say as they've backed themselves into a ideological political corner. Truss had to deliver on what she'd said. She did, and it was wrong at this time as many people pointed out. But this has been coming since Cameron left. Its simply the endpoint.

There has been significant policy shifts, but no opposition would outline in greater detail two years out from an election during conference season.

You're sort of asking the wrong questions to make the point you want to.

It's a easy nice trick to do but a bit misleading in fairness.

They do, but here and now they look a better alternative, that might change if Truss is binned off or she somehow morphs into a decent PM.

No they currently do not. The Tories are doing the job for them.

She then went on to say the 80’s and early 90’s were a total mess and stagnant (under Tories)

And her whole thrust is that she can fix Britain. Which means the last 12 years have been shite.

Theyre admitting they’ve been a force for absolutely fucking nothing - admitting it in plain sight - and still their cum guzzling fanboys are lapping up every drop “because it upsets greenpeace”

Imagine the cognitive meltdown.

And wasnt her sales pitch that she had been a minister for years and had delivered, delivered, delivered

I asked the question, what would Labour do?  It’s not a trick. Surely an opposition should be able put forward credible solutions.

I'm not sure they have said, but then they don't have to, they're not running the show. As soon as a GE is called, then of course they'll have to outline their position, until then though, they don't have to say anything. As things stand, the polls are swinging in their favour by them saying little to nothing, and letting the Tory Party destroy themselves....why would they want to change that?

They have just had a party conference and put forward some good ideas (maybe not depending on your view). Everyone knows the only time you put meat on the bone is in a run up to an election. I think Ed Millband found that out when Shiny Dave nicked all his ideas.

That’s politics. It’s easy being in opposition. Especially with the current government but sooner or later, they will have to prove they are a government in waiting. I haven’t seen anything yet to show that. As you say, they don’t have to do much, the Tories are doing it for them.

If they were credible, they’d be showing how good they were rather than how bad the others were.

True. I did  say it maybe too soon but eventually, we will all have a choice. I’d still like to see more from Labour about their policies rather than criticism. As I said, that’s politics.

I'm sure there will be a manifesto come election time.

Meanwhile, sit tight and let the Tories eat themselves

Why would they release a Manifesto 2 years before an election? They're already showing how much better they are in Parliament on a daily basis.

Of course, as I’ve said, that’s politics.

Don’t  take any notice of the polls though. How can anyone give an honest opinion without seeing both sides. 🤷‍♂️

I don’t expect a manifesto. I asked Labour supporters, like yourself, how Labour would be better for us than the Tories without saying “anyone would be better”

And you were answered in detail by Ani. You just don't want to accept it. Why would a continuation of this Government be better for us?

With paper sales so low these days, The Mail, Telegraph, Express and Sun can pump as much bilge on Starmer like they did on Corbyn, but it won't make any difference next time round.

Yes Ani did. You haven’t.

Well one looks like an absolute shitshow at the moment and the other doesn't.

Bloke on QT said an interesting thing last week.

Parties lose elections rather than win them. Some truth in that. And it looks like these fuckers are losing it it big time.

Corbyn would have been a disaster and the far left loons of Labour need to be as far away from government as much as the right wing loons of the Tories should but we are now in that Tory disaster.

Read Ani's post again, and pretend I said it.

For some time the plus point for the Tories was they weren't labour

Now the plus point for labour is they aren't the tories

And that's all it takes

You’re right, it’s more a case of the Tories losing rather than Labour winning.
We could have the Monster Raving Looney Party in opposition and the polls would be similar.

Doesn't say much about Labour though.
