There seems to be great joy amongst Englishmen of a certain age that this tyrannical woman no longer controls their lives.

And it's not weird behaviour, At all.

That specific fund might be less, but I'd hazard a guess Scotland receives far more in overall subsidies as part of the UK than it could expect from the EU if it went alone. The sum total Scotland receives will be much higher than what's indicated in the report above surely?

I could be wrong - this is just an assumption I'm making.

Yes but it is all controlled from Westminster. At least under the EU they had a decent project fund which was reliable and gave them an advantage as a net beneficiary. How much confidence would you have that the UK government will stick to their funding as per Barnett Formula? The Tories already have a bill going through parliament that makes fundamental changes to this.

I guarantee they will hate the next SNP leader too. They want Scotland to be part of the UK but only on their terms. It is a bit like brexit in reverse.

Twitter is heaving with angry blokes rejoicing in her resignation.

Furious Ken from Bromley acting like he’s just been freed from a Glaswegian prison.

Very, very odd.

They walk among us. I don’t know Ken but I’ll guess he was a brexiteer, hates Jeremy Corbyn, hates footballers taking the knee and is hoping to get planes flying to Rwanda asap.

Corbyn wasn't all bad, he was a staunch Brexiteer.

Reality is she’s far more liked than any politician has been in England for a long, long time. That doesn’t excuse the performance in key area such as health and education though, so I can get the point on that one. But she’s an honesty about her that people appreciate. The press will enjoy reporting that the SNP are in turmoil, but they are still set to dominate in the next election.

And all on the back of one policy. If they actually got independence there reason for being is null and void.

If you’re not already aware of it might be worth reading up on the Barnett formula.

Oh, you and your facts! 😀

Honesty? Well, possibly. But I think the sordid tale of the disappearance of £600,000 of members’ donations to a ‘ring fenced’ Referendum fund which will continue to unravel over the coming weeks and months will be fascinating.

this article explains how the Barnett formula does not deliver the same public spending increases for Scotland year on year.

And under the circumstances (post EU 150 million deficit in year 1, Barnett formula not delivering the same spending increases each year for Scotland and a Tory government determined to undermine the devolved Scottish parliament) I think Sturgeon did a good job.

She’s popular up here with a lot of people, that much is obvious living up here. Folk were emotional yesterday. She wouldn’t get my vote but I’ve always had a bit of respect for her.

got any links to the 600,000 story?

mrs. works on a govn funded project, it’s not all independence focused. whilst opponents always accuse them of focusing on independence it’s not the case in reality.

They’ve done some good things in some areas and have been more willing to abandon the short term gains to invest in policies that take more time. In some areas they’ve been a total failure and have used the independence argument to get away with it.

Bit difficult at the moment googling as m at work. There’s quite a bit of coverage in the UK and Scottish press reports around November 2022. Then it goes quiet and it’s starting to bubble again since her resignation yesterday. There’s a lot more to come, I think.
One example here from November.

Definitely worth a google. 😊

Cheers 👍

reading on from that it makes sense why she dodged the question. Can’t see it being a huge thing to be honest. Pales into insignificance to what the Tories have done with money in recent years. She seems pretty confident it won’t come back to bite.

 Might be wrong though.

it’s certainly not why she’s called it a day anyhow
