I completely agree. Things like say, reproductive rights, press freedoms, immigration and civil liberties, LGBTQ+ rights, voting rights, environmental regulations and labour rights.

Thankfully I can't think of any extremely powerful (and bright orange) people who are threatening to take any of these away! 😉

I'm ambivalent about the ID card thing. It seems a sensible move if your priority is to make it harder for people to work who are living here illegally. So I'm surprised the same people who are up in arms about immigration also seem to be up in arms about this too?

I'm not arsed about having an ID card, I'd happily get one but not sure what the point is

I live in an area immigrants are shipped to, and they have no negative impact on my life whatsoever. What does have a negative impact on my life is usually-drunk (or drugged up) white unemployed English people making the area look like a fucking shit hole because they don't know how bins work, and they think arguing in the street is an appropriate way to resolve their issues. That is a proven fact.

Why do people keep talking about asylum seekers when they actually mean legal immigration? There is fuck all Farage is going to be able to do about those here legally no matter what he says.

MancWanderer and myself chatted about it the other week, mostly re Newton Heath 

Since then, there were 2 shootings in that area. I bizarrely worked on both streets it happened last week, albeit I worked in the afternoon whilst the shots were fired at night
