I've been referred for an ADHD consultation by my GP who reckons my symptoms more closely match this than the anxiety and depression they've been treating me for for years). Currently on a 3 year waiting list - so I'm obviously not alone.

And if I can find some treatment that helps control my symptoms better then I'm all for it.

I won't be claiming PIP though.

If you shuffle round a town centre screaming at pigeons with a thousand yard stare and shit up your back, I'd say you probably qualify for some help

Apparently I don't. It wasn't my own shit, up my back, though, so maybe that's what halted the claim

Good God! 🤣

Not at all.

The brain is very complex and they can break just like your leg can but the consequences are emotional rather than physical. I get it.

But here’s the thing, I’d be prepared to bet that every single person on earth allows dark thoughts to creep in, or procrastinates, or displays obsessive behaviour to some degree or other. I do. But I just think that’s all part of being a human and something to work on or get used to.

Eventually, there comes a point when getting “help” for every little thing is exacerbating a problem not fixing it.

Have a beer. Or a wank. Go for a walk. Or a wank. Put some music on, have a wank, whatever works. Wanking helps.

We've gone soft.

100%.

Unfortunately, this "epidemic" makes it more difficult to identify and help genuine cases.

Oh, and antidepressants can, well..lead to blokes to "going soft".

Having gone through claiming PIP for the Mrs I just don't see how my level of ADHD would qualify for any benefits. Definitely would have benefit from some support at school etc. and if I had a real job I'd probably need some support or understanding bosses.

Walking, music, beer and wanking are a few of my favourite things just like the song from Mary Poppins... being pissed off is just part of life, I've probably spent more time sulking than being happy to be honest but I just accept it as my lot.

Get to Drs, get some PIP then book  an holiday, you’ll be reet 😉

Anyone else just logged and a bit disappointed that there is not 27 pages of posts of people asking other posters to prove something they made passing reference to ?

Fridays have gone downhill on here since Prince Andrew became Andrew.

Can’t be arsed scrolling back, but can you prove that?

Can you? Simple yes or no.

Thought not.

A bit like the initial, wide scope grooming gang enquiry, you can manufacture whatever data you want to get, by manipulating the fundamentals of your research.

It would be fascinating to see the exact questions, where the data was gathered etc.

My observations when walking locally with dogs, is 100% of people I've chatted to talk about the immigration issue above anything else.

Simply as part of general conversation, without a specific focus on politics etc.

Does that mean 100% would put it as their number 1 priority if asked directly? Maybe not.

Stats!

Our dog is 13 walk her 2/3 times a day and never once has immigration been discussed with the many folk we chat to.

The weather, the state of the park, people not picking up after their dogs, health of dogs, anyone’s birthday. Anything but never immigration. By far the biggest topic of conversation is what dickheads our dogs are.

If you asked people round here about immigration affecting us here the answer would be no, because we live in a ‘nice’ suburb of Leeds and other than people coming to work at the airport and in Care Homes there is little or no impact. I only know about the few I do because my missus does viewings on rental properties for an Estate Agent.

You are right the wording is key, the fact it still comes out near the top at a National level is also ignored in the headline. Any national Government needs to understand that. At a local level in some areas like mine simply not an issue as @gonzo may have mentioned in his area it is .

Nah, go for a walk, have a couple of pints then have a wank watching some old Road Runner videos 😆

This is why I take my dog to the mast road more often ten than not. I have no wish to talk to anyone and certainly not about immigration.

I’m 30% deflection so am in a much better position to discuss it than you are.

<insert link to utterly unknown right winger with his own YouTube channel “proving categorically” that David Lammy drowns guide dogs in the Thames every night>

what have you got to say about this?

Edited by Spider

The immigration that most people near me are bothered about is folk who moved from London post pandemic when working from home rose in popularity

Which is exactly what I did so I tend not to prompt them

43 and pretty much the same here.

Looking back through my life it explains many things, and wondering what would be different if I'd had the support. I guess you've had similar feelings.

When I was a school you'd have to be a violent trouble maker to be picked up as ADHD. Not the figity chatterbox who's achieving passing grades.

Absolutely, I definitely wouldn't have job hopped to much or made stupid impulsive decisions like walking out of a job or buying a sports car that'd I'd just walked past.

I was the clumsy kid who sat staring into space and daydreaming instead of listening to the teach. I also couldn't pay attention to conversations for longer than a minute before daydreaming. Just always constantly been in my own head. I'm in titration at the minute and it's been tough.

I hope you're doing well now.

Yep pretty much tick all those boxes

Maybe you have it but it's not severe and/or you've found coping mechanisms and a job that it doesn't impact too much..

Who the fuck starts talking to strangers about immigration when out walking their dogs? 🤣
