Me and the missus were talking about it with a few mates the other week. Christ I think the majority of us ticked the majority of boxes for ADHD, as I’m sure many would on here. Symptoms for kids included. Forgetting things, getting distracted, losing things, making careless mistakes in school. Does anyone know of any kid that doesn’t do the above. if I went to the Dr next week with the family we would all be on PIP.

I agree with what Anderson is saying here.

For many people in this country, Pip is a necessary lifeline for them to live a dignified life, but for some, sadly, it's an excuse not to go to work."

Anderson said the government should not be "labelling young people disabled because they have the odd bout of anxiety" and, listing some of the symptoms of anxiety and depression, asked "who in this room has not suffered these?"

The sad thing about this post is that this sort of misunderstanding and quackery self diagnosis means kids and adults who do have real issues get treated as though their issues arent significant. ADHD isnt about being 'easily distracted or forgetting things' it can lead to signifcant learning problems, depression and at school age exclusion.

Its why comments like Andersons dont help because it ligitimises the 'me and the missus were having a chat' bunkum that has taken decades to overcome so kids with learning issues are not just dismissed as thick or naughty and thrown on the scrapheap. But then if yoi agree with Anderson on anything you need to give your head a wobble.

And the cost to this country overall is tiny.

I’ve spoke about this before on here, kids know what they have to say as do adults. They, through their phones have a wealth of knowledge at their fingertips. My eldest’s best mate is totally taking the piss out of the system.  How does he know what to do or say? His brother. How does he know? His mates and mother who are all at it. The system is being raped and taking away help from those that genuinely need it. If you think that going from 10 referrals a day to just under 600 is normal than more fool you.

The system is being raped because you eldest kids best mate and his mate and their mothers 'are all at it' and because of this you decry the entire system.

Never heard such bloke down the pub bollocks in all my days.

As I say, this sort of chat is harmful to those who have real support needs.

But you and your missus had a chat about folk being easily distracted. You dont get PIP for that. Although, have you thought about being tested for autism? Ive often thought your inability to display empathy, your absolute literaltrality on any subject, quick to anger when not mollified, the need to ensure your worldview is unquestioned and right, you do seem to display some traits. Im off this morning to the young persons mental health clinic with my daughter for her monthly check in - ill pick you up some leaflets if you'd like. Get on the PIP bandwagon 😊

So what do you think the split is between “taking the piss to rape the system”, genuine mental health issues and those just needing to listen to some Joy Division?

Another highlighting his difficulty in reading. At no stage did I say they were the sole reason for the system being raped. But once again you’re pushing aside what people see. You don’t learn do you.

And where did I say I could get PIP from having a chat with my missus? I can guarantee you though I could easily get PIP as could many other people I know And no doubt many on here just by knowing what to say.

Whilst at the Dr see if they have anything for looking like a creepy cunt, going off your insta posts you need to be on some kind of watch list 😉

Time to convert some of your ISA savings to gold maybe.

Buy any big ticket items you're planning on getting in the not too distant future.

God knows what extra taxation will be levied.

get it all into Bitcoin and XRP

Again, I dont think fippancy is ideal on this topic. You have to go through a lot to get PIP as well.

There was plenty of exploiting the PIP system during the COVID years but now it requires in person meetings again there will be plenty hit next time they have a review.

Folk might know what to say to get the GP to start the ball rolling on a Autism/ADHD diagnosis, it's not as easy to trick the specialists when it eventually comes time to see them.

I know fuck all about it - this PIP malarky, is it a universal amount folk get, or do you get more/less depending on how spazzy you are?

What is PIP?

From AI

Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is a benefit in the United Kingdom designed to help adults with the extra living costs associated with a long-term physical or mental health condition or disability.

It’s Currently rising by 1000 new claimants a day. Costing around 15 billion a year. A tiny cost apparently.

PIP is not working related it is the extra money you need to live with your disability. It's broken down into 2 parts care and mobility each one is then assigned a severity of low/medium/high. Every assesment requires a massive form and a meeting and physical with an assessor. Now it's back to face to face meeting you may be able to bullshit your way onto the lower rates if you're very good but the higher rates will be pretty impossible.

If you qualify for the high rate mobility component usually a physical disability you can sacrifice it to pay the motability lease on a car/electric wheelchair/spaz chariot

Can I get this if I work for a living but get a bit fed up sometimes?

I got diagnosed with it about 6 weeks ago, I'm 40. It's a ridiculously complex illness with a lot of symptoms. I have the issues with concentration and it's not about effort I can force myself to read the same page of something 40 times and not have actually read it because my brain is having a chat with itself about something else, just one example. Another one is I can get hyper focused on one thing to worry about and it can go on for weeks. Just a couple of examples. Lee Anderson is a cunt.

43 and pretty much the same here.

Looking back through my life it explains many things, and wondering what would be different if I'd had the support. I guess you've had similar feelings.

When I was a school you'd have to be a violent trouble maker to be picked up as ADHD. Not the figity chatterbox who's achieving passing grades.

Yep pretty much tick all those boxes

No offence, but I'd consider this just standard, routine brain behaviour.

If we start paying out for every slightly quirky bit of brain activity we'd have to give everyone in the country a hand out.

Obsessive folk are some of the richest on the planet. That Musk bloke for example, he 100% spends some of his days carefully folding bog roll into the shape of farm animals. I bet he isn't claiming benefits.

If you shuffle round a town centre screaming at pigeons with a thousand yard stare and shit up your back, I'd say you probably qualify for some help, otherwise, just get the fuck on with it.

I know plenty who are professionals at it.

If you know what you're doing it's a piece of piss.

Yep. I can't sit still. Can't relax. Spend my days chasing dopamine hits.

Ruminate and procrastinate to fuck.

We just got to crack on though.

ADHD goes beyond the depression/anxiety adjacent symptoms to be fair. I still have to crack on but I now understand what I can do to counteract the condition.

Getting into the territory of those with depression need to just pull themselves together and stop being sad.

Not at all.

The brain is very complex and they can break just like your leg can but the consequences are emotional rather than physical. I get it.

But here’s the thing, I’d be prepared to bet that every single person on earth allows dark thoughts to creep in, or procrastinates, or displays obsessive behaviour to some degree or other. I do. But I just think that’s all part of being a human and something to work on or get used to.

Eventually, there comes a point when getting “help” for every little thing is exacerbating a problem not fixing it.

Have a beer. Or a wank. Go for a walk. Or a wank. Put some music on, have a wank, whatever works. Wanking helps.

We've gone soft.

Aye mate. I know.

I can differentiate between the 'casual' stuff and proper stuff.

My head falls off sometimes, that's way different from every day trials and tribulations.

Trouble is people latch on to those trials and tribulations and think they've got proper issues when in reality it's just life being a cunt.
