The weather, the state of the park, people not picking up after their dogs, health of dogs, anyone’s birthday. Anything but never immigration. By far the biggest topic of conversation is what dickheads our dogs are. If you asked people round here about immigration affecting us here the answer would be no, because we live in a ‘nice’ suburb of Leeds and other than people coming to work at the airport and in Care Homes there is little or no impact. I only know about the few I do because my missus does viewings on rental properties for an Estate Agent. You are right the wording is key, the fact it still comes out near the top at a National level is also ignored in the headline. Any national Government needs to understand that. At a local level in some areas like mine simply not an issue as @gonzo may have mentioned in his area it is . The area I work in* I live in Thornton where you never see a foreign face. Total Dyed in the wool Tory land. Retired middle class Rugby bummers. ....but immigration is still on everybody's lips. If I didn't work in Blackpool and see the effects, I'd be thinking what are these obsessed gammon worried about. But I do, and see it with my own peepers. I'm watching it grow and grow... Quote

You can engineer whatever data you want. I'm struck by how readily folk will open up about it now- and that's changed significantly within a few years, maybe more so since the last election. Folk and pissed off. You can get a wider impression from comments about the town centre on the other thread too. Quote

I also said it readily came up in general conversation, rather than any specific chat. You seem to be having difficulties with some basic sentences, but you're not the only one. Then again, if it doesn't suit to read about truthful anecdotes, then it is quite typical that you and others make things up. Basic lies. It's a common tactic used by so many on the 'left'. Quote

We don't have foreign types round here generally, and no way asylum seeker types be allowed 😀 - hence, why nobody really cares about, or mentions immigration Quote

I have the issues with concentration and it's not about effort I can force myself to read the same page of something 40 times and not have actually read it because my brain is having a chat with itself about something else, just one example. Another one is I can get hyper focused on one thing to worry about and it can go on for weeks. Just a couple of examples. Lee Anderson is a cunt. I'm not going to lie, it was really hard for me to type this, put it out in the public domain and it's been hard to tell certain members of my family due to how people think it's a made up disease, when I know how much I've suffered with it. The meds have been great but not without their issues and I can to a lot of stuff I couldn't on the past. Oh and I don't claim PIP nor do I have any intention of doing even though with comorbid anxiety I could. I work full time and have a degree. Edited November 1, 2025 by dazl1212 Quote

Says a lot about politics is general. Also perhaps changing attitudes amongst some younger people. Fair play to the lad for standing. Inevitably at that age, a lack of experience would be a difficulty. Quote

The voters themselves will also be aware of those weaknesses. Perhaps they see the alternatives being even weaker, less trustworthy, and ineffective? A reflection of the large scale disappointment with the usual parties. Belittling folk for expressing their democratic will, and not going the party you would choose, is hardly going to alter those views is it? It's up to those traditional parties to pull their fingers out, realise what so many actually want, and start to acknowledge it, and start to represent them. If they don't someone else will. Even if it is just a protest vote initially, if there is no change, then the alternative will become more mainstream. Quote

And I do think it's a protest vote. It might be a protest vote that turns into a genuine run on Parliament - but if their conference and the way they're currently managing the councils they've won is anything to go by - they'll make this current lot look like a fantasy dreamworld! Brilliant that you felt you could share stuff on here pal x It's really hard for people to understand who don't suffer stuff like this to the same level where it's like a proper diagnosed condition. Bit like folk thinking migraines are just day headaches or anxiety/panic attacks are just feeling a bit wooshy after a coffee. Although it's ace issues are now diagnosed and it's much more socially acceptable to seek help, it's opened up the market, for want of a better expression, to folk who think they've got clinical depression when their dogs just died or Bolton have lost. There's levels. I'm glad you seem at peace with stuff anyway pal. Fuck every fucker else anyway. Quote

Brave of you to put on here mate, as Gonzo says glad you were comfortable doing so. There is another thread on here about people struggling with mental health challenges, feel free to share on there too. This thread trans to go a bit haywire when those struggling with their own identities start drinking. Quote
