My lad just strolled in and announced him and all his mates are voting for Rupert Lowe.

Theres about 10 of them in the WhatsApp group and they have zero interest in any of the main parties.

not sure if this applies to all youngsters, but I was a bit surprised.

You have clearly failed as a parent. 😜

Joking aside, the smaller parties especially have been much better at using social media to win over potential voters.

Was at my mums yesterday. In her mid 80s. Reform councillor came to door canvassing for local elections. I challenge him on all the lies he started spouting about lowering council taxes and salaries in Labour run councils when my mum pipes up “I’ve had enough of the other two parties I’m voting for you”.

Shows what the country will be up against at the next GE. Time to stock up on tinned food and bog rolls I’d imagine.

What did The Jam sing? “The public gets what the public wants”.

I despair.

But let’s be honest the blame for where we are at lies with the other parties not Reform. IMO they are a bunch of grifters but if any other party offered a glimmer of hope Reform would be nowhere.

Absolutely, and even those who pretend to have supported Reform for years would agree. They've been allowed to come into existence due to the big two "traditional" lot making a right pigs ear of running the country over the last few years.

Russian ships have regularly been traversing the channel, on the odd occasion near a "tanker".

Obviously, the MOD etc will have significant input, but if you claim to be about to board these vessels, then be prepared to do so.

Otherwise, it all looks a bit "Don".

Given the shit show we've been subjected to, it seems somewhat premature to decide things will get worse.

They might, or they might not.

If things hadn't been fucked up, then Reform, the Greens etc would be nothing more than fringe groups.

Not one party appeals entirely at the moment, and no doubt that view predominates around the country.

We can look at Ukraine for an example of voters being fed up with what is typically on offer.

It's worked out pretty well for them, albeit not in the way they would have expected.

Everyone will have a view on what will happen here, but until the next election is done, and policies enacted, none of us knows exactly how things will pan out.

I don't know much about this sort of thing at all, but are they in British waters? (obviously, we don't "own" all the Channel)  -  if not in our waters, can we pile on board and seize them? - I honestly don't know.

I'd like to think if they're sanctioned, and in our waters, we would be boarding and seizing.......if that's how it works of course.

Unlike the "small boats" we can probably see these things coming an absolute mile away, so I guess we should be able to do something. Ideally, get an agreement with Putin, to get him to sell us that lovely oil at a reduced cost 😉

Agree with much of this, especially that the rise of Reform is largely because of the failings of Labour & Tories. Said it before and will again, that I don’t blame folks (including my mum!) for voting Reform ….. they’ve had enough. The fault is with mainstream parties……and specifically not stopping the small boat crossings. If Labour fix that in the next 3 years then the election could go their way again. If they don’t then Farage will be PM. Simple as that I reckon.

It is a sad indictment of our county that one single issue would probably sway it.

I would say that the Tories have to take the most blame for the state of our country and imposing austerity for too long. They were also on watch for the huge increase in migration the Reform lot are using to their advantage. They had almost 15 years and somehow made things worse and the shittest of them are now wearing a light blue rosette, go figure!

I add that Labour were stupid to copy their bollocks talking of smashing the gangs, it was never going to happen.  I also cannot believe Labour managed to find themselves with fucking Corbyn in charge when the country needed a proper opposition.

Proof if you need it that starmer is a fucking idiot. Who’d sanction this in the first place we can even afford to fix potholes in the road.

The Chagos Islands - officially known as the British Indian Ocean Territory - are located in the Indian Ocean and Britain has controlled them since the early 19th Century.

The deal would see the UK cede sovereignty of the territory to Mauritius, and pay an average cost of £101m ($136m) a year to lease back a joint UK-US military base on the largest island, Diego Garcia.
