I was ignorant to it too.

So I looked it up.

It is bollocks

We cant kick someone out because they aint working.

Yes we can. As you proved in your follow-up post.

Yes we can. As you proved in your follow-up post.

No we can't.

As I proved in both my posts.

You claim we can deport ANYONE from the EU, whether they are claiming benefits or not.

EU law says otherwise (Being a drain on the NHS is not reason enough for deportation, as you state, we could claim that back).

No we can't.

So all those eu citizens that are here who don’t work and don’t contribute we can kick them out can we at the moment? Really? You actually believe that ? We issue working visas to eu citizens currently do we and limit them from entering if they don’t have gainful employment currently?

Yes. Our government just choose not to implement the regulations. Are you really so thick that you believe EU citizens can simply wander over to any EU country and claim benefits on arrival?

If they come to work and integrate then no issues. If they come to doss about and add no value then no reason for them to be here and as per the debate that’s been had many times it’s a drain on services such as nhs etc.

That’s my problem

Shall I say it again? Under current EU rules, we have every right to deport those people - we just choose not to. So surely your problem isn't with the EU, it's with our government...

I claimed no such thing! FFS

YEs you did.

Don't do the usual Cheese thing of saying one thing, then denying you said it. There are those on here that say you are better than that. I don't believe them.

Where in any of the comments you've quoted did I claim "we can deport ANYONE from the EU, whether they are claiming benefits or not".?

To be fair Cheese, a lot of people are ignorant to that fact. A lot of our issues with the EU are of our own causing, the biggest shambles being the claim back for EU nationals using the NHS, we don't bother claiming back, yet every other EU country does. Our Government hasn't helped itself at all in a lot of these matters

I’m pretty sure that we have done the ‘NHS claiming back’ thing before and that was also completely overhyped Daily Mail bollocks

If you think about it, of the 3m EU nationals here, 2.7m work and pay Tax / NI - of course we can’t then claim it back on an EHIC card as they are chipping in here. So then your only talking about a few hundred thousand people that we should be claiming back (If indeed they are using it as they are generally younger and fitter individuals)

If I recall correctly a lot of the countries claiming back from us where places like Poland etc. Clearly you don’t get many British people moving to Poland to live, you do however get 500,000+ going on holiday each year and that’s what drives the claim backs, tourism! Indeed if you went to Poland for work and paid local taxes then they wouldn’t be claiming it back on an EHIC anyway

As we travel around Europe much more than they travel here our inbalance with claiming back is clearly going to be much more also

Then you add in the fact we have huge numbers of pensioners living in Europe, not paying local income taxes. They will be claimed back on EHIC cards, they are also far more likely to require health services

I can’t really think of any European country that we shouldn’t have a huge defecit with?

There's a possibility you're looking in the wrong place.

No. And the deal Cameron negotiated would have given us even more power to deport EU criminals. But don't let facts get in the way of a pro-Brexit argument.

Do you think there are no British people imprisoned in other EU countries? 30% of British Nationals "banged up abroad" are imprisoned within the EU. The next highest number are imprisoned in the USA.

Clearly some would prefer it if people who commit crimes on British soil were sent back to their country of origin, where we have no say in their sentence/punishment. I'd rather they were subjected to the British legal system. If a nonce got caught fucking kids in Thailand, would you rather have him sent back here than suffer the consequences in the country of his victims?

No, I'm looking at the exact quotes Ziggy pointed at....

But again, even though the quote you've just posted is totally irrelevant to the discussion, where did I ever claim "we can deport ANYONE from the EU, whether they are claiming benefits or not".?

I'll repeat it again, because a couple of you don't seem to comprehend this basic statement. We can deport EU citizens from the UK if they are not self-sufficient - we just don't.

And as you brought it up - we can also deport EU citizens if they are convicted criminals.

I have never, in any way whatsoever, insinuated that "we can deport ANYONE from the EU, whether they are claiming benefits or not". Why would anyone even want that? So you could deport people because they weren't born in the UK?

Right in the statement you choose not to quote:

Him: So all those eu citizens that are here who don’t work and don’t contribute we can kick them out can we at the moment? Really?

You: Yes. Our government just choose not to implement the regulations.

There. Right there. In Black and white.

In what version of the English language does that translate to "ANYONE from the EU"???

70 virgins...

This is an unsubstantiated anecdote of the type I hate when they are read out on Radio 5 but I think I have been on here long enough that you can take my word for it.

I do the buy to let thing in Bolton and the last time I had a house vacant last year I showed a Hungarian (for that read Romani) guy around. Nice enough bloke but after 3 years in the U.K. he couldn't speak English and had not worked in that time.

I hope you told him to sling his hook.

He'd have opened up your fireplaces/chimneys and burned your kitchen and other sundry timbers in them.

And the backyard and the surrounding backstreet would've favvered Raikes Lane.

I read an article once that said there were two Brit expats on the poky in Poland - one had lived there since he was 16 and had no legs or lips, he got £2.69 a fortnight, t'other had fought for the Polish army and single-handedly built line 2 of the Warsaw subway - he got a tenner a year and a jar of Sauerkraut.

Both had a twelve year wait for their benefits to be granted, and had to write a 60,000 word application in Galician Officer Class Polish.

So, Mounts says we always expected to offer an olive branch.

Whatever’s on a branch. ????

They tend to miss out the back yard and just dump their shit in the back street. Problem is, the council have a team shifting said shit which gives My Hungarian Romani type the impression that this is a service in Bolton. He then tells his buddies about the service so they also tip their shit in the street. It's at epidemic levels in certain areas around the terraced streets either side of Halliwell Road and Chorley Old Road.

Whatever’s on a branch.

It must be a massive branch

It should have read lets take the 40 million and spend it on Brexit. :)

We can though, as any EU country can,

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-25134521

If, as a country, we are not doing enough to enforce this it is not the fault of the EU but our own government.
