We got ours fixed not so long back sensing the oncoming shitstorm

Another 14.5% and it will be up to the level I was paying in 89/90. When we had it dead easy.

Good point, well made

But it wasn't 15 for long, was it

My recollection is of rates at 7 or 8?

If it ever get's back north of 5% again, plenty of folk are going to be a bit fucked, especially when it comes around to remortgaging again. I'm glad mine is now fixed until the end of my term......although Mrs Sweep clearly wants us to extend......

Said earlier that it might help reduce house prices; not sure it will matter much as repayments would be higher at a higher interest rate.

It won't reduce house prices

It'll just push rents up

Tend to agree. House prices been falling in many places outside London and south east for a bit, not sure a quarter percent will make much of a difference to that.

As will rent controls

interest rates will rise further as inflation creeps up

Likely bring some deflation to house prices which won’t be a bad thing I suppose

Nothing in it when you compare cheaper houses with higher Interest rates vs more expensive houses with lower rates. You’ll end up paying a similar amount over the life of the deal

Aye. One bloke on Tele yesterday saying we should pay 40 billion to stay in single market!

Shouldn't he of just voted remain haha (he may of done) just seems daft

£40bn divorce bill and European court of justice will still apply.

Nice one ????????

Except it won’t apply and 40 billion for full access and regaining our sovereignty in time it could be seen as bargain of the century.

Like I said from day one we will have to offer an olive branch to make it look like we’ve been punished, but really we could just walk away pay our liabilities and do just fine, however we’re playing the good neighbour trying not to embarrass our neighbours and partners. It’s happening as predicted deal will be done we will move on retain access and the smoke will go up the chimney just the same. Let’s hope remainers can now unfurl their fingers from the cliff edge and will find it’s just a 12 inch drop to the floor.

Just read this little piece of research from the centre for towns institute in the FT. Thought people might like to read it - Gonzo it uses Blackpool as a test study.

It’s about the issue we have in Britain around the exodus from towns such as Blackpool of younger people and the huge divide this has created between cities and university towns and towns across the country. It then goes on to show that these ‘left behind’ places were most likely to vote leave and this division between haves and have nots widens. It’s probaly better to tackle this ‘internal immigration’ rather than worry about our boarders, to ensure there is equal balance across the UK, but that’s just my humble opinion.
