RoI felt obliged to join the EU because UK was doing so.

 

At some point they will realise that however hard the UK is hurt by leaving, RoI will suffer much more.

I don't know if that's good or bad...but at least we can hopefully start to move forward with some trade talks now......and hopefully we'll get a decent deal.
