Agree with that - it gave us our first taste of life in the top division for the 50s/60s kids, and what an eye opener those 2 seasons were

Getting to Blackburn early on, winning a few quid in a card school in the pub, watching Bolton get promoted, arrested after the game and getting kicked out of cells at Midnight, then getting back home in a taxi paid for with my winnings. Great Day.

Spot on - that night will never be bettered When we lost 1-0 to Cardiff with a shed load of Bolton there it looked like we could fuck up again but glad we lost when the promotion was clinched at Blackburn
March 9, 20188 yr There was that brief moment at Port Vale last season that felt like it was going to be another big away day promotion party

March 9, 20188 yr That night at Ewood would be very difficult to beat for any BWFC supporter. I was there but I reckon the double-header of Bournemouth then Hull City in 4 days pushed it very close.
March 9, 20188 yr I know very little about that game at Cardiff in 77/8. Always been curious about it.....
March 9, 20188 yr That night at Ewood would be very difficult to beat for any BWFC supporter. 1. Frankie double at Old Trafford 2. Ewood 3. Wrexham Nowt will ever beat the OT game for me
March 9, 20188 yr 1. Frankie double at Old Trafford 2. Ewood 3. Wrexham Yep, all of them but also... The Man City 3-0 cup game - the best atmosphere I've been in on the Lever End that night. Reading at Wembley White Love, Liverpool & Arsenal aways Wolves at home - play off I think Bournemouth & Hull aways Any of the European aways & probably a few more.....
March 10, 20188 yr I'll throw a few more in - maybe a grade below some of those mentioned above but: Bolton 2 Wigan 1 in the Freight Rover Semi Final in 86. A diamond in the dirt of the 80s. Only 12000 on at Burnden but clinched Wembley for the first time in 28 years. Pitch invasion at the end. Bolton 1 Villa 0 in the cup in 93/4 with Stubbs scoring from a long range free kick. Brilliant atmosphere. City 1 Bolton 2 in 96/7 when we clinched the title Bolton 1 Charlton 0 in the FA Cup Quarter Final in 99/00 - again, clinching Wembley Leicester 0 Bolton 5 on the first day of the season. Just absolutely incredible. United 1 Bolton 2 and United 0 Bolton 1 in consecutive years - 2001 and 2002. Portsmouth 1 Bolton 1 at the end of 04/5 to make sure of European qualification. Just a brilliant feeling walking off Fratton Park at the end. Bolton 2 Sunderland 0 at the end of 07/8 to secure safety - which had looked very unlikely for so long Bolton 3 Peterborough 0 at the end of last season has to make the list now as well.
March 10, 20188 yr Can I add Everton replay in the cup and 2nd leg at home to Swindon. Making a major cup final. Brilliant night
March 10, 20188 yr FA cup replay at Anfield and the FA cup game at Highbury, both in the white hot era.
March 10, 20188 yr I know very little about that game at Cardiff in 77/8. Always been curious about it..... The game was pretty forgettable, think we took about 7,000. Seem to remember Cardiff fancying a go after the match & getting run ragged.
March 10, 20188 yr Beat Brum and we’ll stay up. For those convinced we’ll go down you can get 7/2 tonight. We’ll be fine.. Sorry wrong thread. Edited March 10, 20188 yr by captainmed
March 10, 20188 yr Loads of great games been mentioned, all wonderful in their own ways but White Hot at Anfield & 5-0 at Leicester stand out for me because they were results & performances that I could never have imagined happening...especially schooling Liverpool in their own back yard.
March 10, 20188 yr Sad to say that I didn't go to any of the White Hot games - Anfield, Goodison or Highbury Daughters born in 92 and 95 and I was on a complete ban from away games around that time - why did I ever listen to the first Mrs Manc? Got divorced from her and brought up two rabid BWFC daughters
