Common sense from a more practical and honest thinking culture.

 

If you went to live in Japan or wherever you'd want to understand the culture, wouldn't you?  Or would you expect them to fit around you?

As it happens my Mam said recently the only thing she'd disown me for is rape or pedophilia.

 

Reading between the lines then it's fair to say many of the immigrants featured are coming from countries where a similar view is a million miles away.

Like plenty of 'offensive' words it's more to do with its use rather than the word itself.

 

Moslem has been used by those with an agenda against followers of islam so has picked up negative connotations.

 

In essence though it is just a different translation from arabic than Muslim.

 

Language is complicated but words have power and that power is given to them based on how they are used.

 

The difference between Afghan and Paki despite both words having similar origins is the way Paki has been used as a derogatory term towards all folk from the sub continent.
