Manchester derby to finish at half 7ish. Our train gets back to Piccadilly at 8. What’s the worst that can happen? ????

Just watched highlights of Derby v Sunderland - Can Derby be that shit next week

In short.........

You know the answer

Chris Thompson was the scorer of that winning goal in the 3-2 over Derby

Fantastic escape that season beating Sheff Wednesday in our last game.

Two weeks of agony until Cardiff lost their last game against Norwich I think (could have been Luton )

& were relegated.

Think it was Luton

Best info I could get as the game went on was an on the hour score check on radio Manc news

It was 10 before I knew the score

Unbelievable when you consider today you could watch it live in your front room

Was it 3-2 to Luton & Cardiff were at home ? I was on holiday & couldnt get the score found out a day later!

As you say inconceivable today.

But what an escape .

George Mulhall still got the sack the rest as they say is history.

Got absolutely smashed 7-1 at qpr game before that derby match.

I remember doing the same, but I listened to radio 2 hourly sports bulletins (no 5 live back then). That was a long night, criminal that players etc had gone on holidays etc not knowing if they had survived relegation.

Dramatic is right! 1-2 down with a few minutes left and we grab an equaliser. A reasonable point but probably means we're going down. Then a mad scramble and with the last kick of the game, Hoggan (?) pokes it through a mass of legs at the Lever end and we've won. Absolute delirium on the terraces.

It was the first time I realised how much my team meant to others that night.

Vaguely remember that. Bloody hell.

NobEnd missed a penalty to gift all the points to Derby today.

If they had drawn there would be 2 pts between 5th and 10th.

Derby's run-in matches are all against teams with something at stake:

Bolton, Wolves, Burton, 'Boro, Cardiff, Villa and Barnsley.

preston battered them in terms of chances and possession.

We need to keep it tight early and the natives will get restless. (Like we needed to do at Leeds)

Can we please pull off one outstanding result- a bit like Sunderland did at derby- away and give us all a huge sense of relief.

Watched their game vs Preston yesterday. They were lucky - something like 29 shots to 2 and they fluked a 1-0 courtesy of some very dodgy PNE goalkeeping

Is it just me but whenever I watch David Nugent, the scouse prick always has an annoying grin on his face - I hope one of our centre halves smashes him in 2

Let’s save it for Barnsley.

Scored the 1st goal only twice away this season and held the lead in only 3 games. Can’t see anything other than a walloping unfortunately. 3-0

My wife did say to me this morning, why are you wasting your money going.  I won't be showing her your post to support my case !!

1-1 at best

2-0 at worst

Edited by Ratwhite

Can't see owt else but a defeat, at least 2-0, probably more.

Would snatch your hand off for a point.

600 sold which is fairly decent

Barnsley tickets not shifting as quick as some thought

We never take many to Derby.

There will be 3K at Barnsley I would think.

3 consecutive Saturday aways takes its toll and we were well supported at Leeds.

How many tickets will we get for Burton? I imagine that’s going to be a sell out
