Just been up Skiddaw, windy as fook, raining and visibility when we got to Lonscale Fell and Little Man then onto Skiddaw itself, got lost on the way back, missus phone died and she had the OS maps app on it. I was thinking mountain rescue at one stage, but managed to get back down and into Keswick and the pub! 😁

Where is the fucking sunshhhiiiine 🌞 ?

Arrives on Friday, for one day only

Son rang me up saying the holiday with his family in Portugal is kaput.

I've seen, 27 degrees then dropsc10bthe day after, fucking crazy!

Mind you its better that its not red hot when you are climbing up some peaks, you just want it dry 🌞

Should have come a little further north.

Been tremendous today, on the solway Coast and in land woods. Chilly wind, and warm sunshine.

Rivers still well up which makes for spectacular viewing and lush greenery.

Down side, plenty of eateries still closed, so getting a bite to eat whilst out wasn't that easy!

Looked at the forecast, hottest day of July on Friday, then plummets the day after.

We should have been going back to France today but have had to change it to next week. Rang Eurotunnell yesterday normally get through straight away but was on hold for 40 minutes, when they finally answered only had limited availability for next Wednesday morning, the girl on the phone said she has never known the phone lines to be so busy, I think a lot of people must be having second thought about flying.

most pubs and restaurants seem to be open, although everyone seems to have a different procedure for covid.

Aye. Pubs are open. Its the little cafes that aren't yet fully operational.

Just dropped my Mum off at Manchester Airport for a Ryanair flight to Faro, very quiet

Took the daughter to that pub at the end of the runway so she could see a plane coming in / taking off. Not a single plane in half an hour

The Airline industry will be completely fucked at this rate

Hadn't got about to booking insurance yet for Spain, and obviously that's going to be even tougher now, but have come across these boys https://www.battleface.com/.

Seems they're an insurance firm for people who go to dangerous/risky places (like yer Chernobyls, yer jungles etc). The policy there is £200 for a family of four, so easy double what we normally pay, but it seems legit and would cover us for our trip despite the Foreign Office cunts doing their best to knack us.

Has anyone used  or even heard of them?

So 9 nights in Tenerife has become 8 nights Turkey and then 7 nights in Corfu via East Midlands, but words cannot express my feelings for @Traf right now. Worth his weight in gold. Here's hoping the rules stay the same between now and Monday!

Always happy help to help, mate.

Amazing what you can sort out from a Greek pool-side sunbed with a pint of Ouzo in your hand 😉

Cheers.

Got to look after my clients, irrespective of where I am. Far too many in the travel industry are impossible to contact when the shit hits the fan. I've re-arranged three bookings and sorted a couple of new ones out in the past week whilst "on holiday". I'm going to need another break soon at this rate, if there's anywhere left to go to.

The hotel I was due to stay at in Ibiza has decided to close its doors for the summer so it’s looking like a change in destination and now Turkey is on the cards

The Hilton Dalaman Turkey is fantastic

Highly recommend it if you’re after an AI job

Still had fuck all reply from TUI for our “lost” holiday in March.

Had my flights refunded by Jet2 and Vueling for our aborted Eurocamp holiday in June

Finally got 2 night in Wales last weekend. Albeit had to take work with me. Still managed a couple of good runs, paddleboarding and kayaking.

Day trip to Coniston yesterday to do the Old Man. Loved it!

And back off to Wales again this evening for 5-6 nights. Will be hitting the beaches of Anglesey for sure.

Lastly, booked my ferry ticket to Arran in 3 weeks time. Hiking, running and wild camping in the mountains. Just need to sell a lung/kidney to pay for all the equipment I need.*

*Anyone with a spare lightweight sleeping bag, one man tent and jetboil stove - give me a shout!

TUI have annoouned today they'll be closing 166 shops, you may be waiting a little longer for that refund.

Well done to the Irish and U.K. governments. Fucking over the travel industry.

So, there we have it....

Holidays over health

If theres another lockdown, everybody can wave goodbye to their jobs

Imagine voting for Boris

I think the last time I went in a high street travel agent was 2005

1999 for me. Had 3 trips planned for this year but we’ve thrown a bag over this year. Luckily, we had our main holiday in January so I can’t complain. Hopefully, next year will be different when I have a lot more time on my hands.

Apologies Mounts, I was sure you’d voted for the Tories last time out.

Well I hope folk having to wear masks doesn’t affect your holiday too much

If the government blanket quarantine made sense you’d be right but given that shops, pubs, restaurants, gyms are open and you are free to go on holiday here in the U.K. in areas with higher infection rates than Spain then I’d say you're talking bollocks as per.

Yes the travel industry is suffering. And I feel sorry for everyone impacted. But I cannot see what the government are doing wrong here? They are petrified of a second wave.

let’s put this out there. If we crack on and just allow travel etc and we get a second wave of the same size as the first one. There will be no furlough support. Millions of folk will lose their jobs and homes probably. What does that do to the travel industry then??
