Oh yes. I think a few folk I know did it last year. Fair play.

The one I am thinking about is the 5 Passes. It was the first Ultra I did several years ago and a mate asked if I fancied going round with her again. It's a bit lumpy.

Good luck to you. Must be bonkers.

Lad may well be starting at university in the lakes come September, son that will give an opportunity for some hikes. Sod running 😀

Cheers.

Lucky lad. Some fantastic walks up there.

Had a mate who went to the Ambleside campus - very pretty place. Wansfell Pike is one of my favourite walks , and you get to have a pint at the Mortal Man halfway.

Grizedale Marathon is in 4 weeks time. I’m signed up for it. I’ve done zero training since Christmas Eve when I ran the first half of Grizedale as a recce. Chest has been fucked since and my knee is a bit dicky. Cannot see how I can get the training in before this marathon. Not even walking yet.

I’m eating EVERYTHING in sight at the minute. If chocolate was smack I’d have OD’d about 70x over. I need to get a grip. I am doing Dry Jan and will extend that as far into Feb as I can.

Got my first “official” ultra booked in July - Snowdon. 35 miles. I’ve done sections of it as hikes and the odd run, so will enjoy travelling over to do some recce runs. Sadly won’t have my Welsh holiday home by then, so might involve some camping instead.

Good effort. How was the track? Do you get a bounce and less force on the joints?

Every monday night 6:30 if you ever fancy it

Missing the gym today as work has gone a bit crazy, but back at it tomorrow morning - to be honest it's shit inthe veneings in Jan. Can't get on anything.

Had a shit week of work and no play. Finally got a run in on Saturday night and a hike today around Malham. Still eating anything that’s not nailed down.

Less than 30 miles ran this year. Still struggling with a tight chest and a duff knee. And then pull a marathon out the bag at Grizedale forest today. Buzzing my chippy tits off tonight.

Anyone ever done “Zone 2” training. Starting doing some this week but it seems weird. Max heart rate will be 128 for me and apparently it’s proven science to increase fitness. Not convinced it will

I Tried it with running. Very frustrating as you end up walking the majority of the time, it can take months, even years to see a massive change however it’s highly recommended if you can stick to it.

If you’re on Facebook there’s a couple of good pages on there

Gonna try it for 1/2 runs a week. If it’s basically walking it might help. I did 24km yesterday and not dead today so that’s good. 3hours 3 minutes so on course for finishing Boston in under 6 but definitely hope I can improve on it.

You’ve probably already seen this

https://philmaffetone.com/180-formula/

there’s also the 80/20 method which I do more of, 80% of your runs at an easy pace and 20% of them at a hard pace. A lot of the African runners apparently use this.

Most of my runs for the last 3 weeks have been very easy zone 2 and creeping into 3

Is hard to go slow, but it has to be done

All part of building a good base

I run loads at slow pace just because that’s what I am a plodder. Todays was around 155 and I wasn’t out of breathe.

I am doing around 40km a week at the minute. Gonna add two of these waddles in see how it goes replacing my 2 10km runs

80/20 Running by Matt Fitzgerald is a good book. Worth a read on the subject. Makes total sense. But sticking to it is hard work.

Did a run last weekend, 10km with hills. Mate beat me by about 50 seconds. His heart rate was 140. Mine was 167. He cycles loads as well as runs. I don’t. Can’t sustain running with a heart rate so high.
