Wimbledon H

Another relegation haunted team on the horizon, should be a home banker.

Me too.  Puzzling how anyone couldnt see that Darcy has what it takes.  Great set piece delivery, great energy, can see a pass, and breaks from midfield.  He could be what Vela was meant to be.  Despi

  • Yep, we should be pissing this league.    The players he’s brought in with such a massive budget and the time he’s had to work with them means he needs to be sacked immediately.    FV ou

A few gripes after today, though few of them about individual players or the team generally. Unless Verlinden wasn't fit to do more than half a game why leave him on bench? As last time at home w

Probably the best result you could have got, mate.

Top man. Glad he enjoyed it.

Think Verlinden is best from the bench but I think he played in the cross for the equaliser.

Which was undefendable,  fantastic delivery.

But yeah, he frustrates.

Got to agree.  Verlinden has been a real disappointment, but his cross for the goal was top quality.  Prior to that I'm sure he didnt put one cross in, he was just passing back for Chicksen to cross.  Talk of Stoke recalling him is daft, he's not going to be playing any championship football this season.

In my defence, I saw the equalisers from the top of the stairs by the concourse stood behind a load of folk so didn’t get to see who crossed it 🙈 I suppose Verlinden is just another of our squad who can look a world beater one minute and hopeless the next. Far from alone in that one. I can find Murphy equally frustrating - great header for the first goal, but the corner previous to that he got his timing and body shape all wrong and was trying to head it from directly beneath it, something that seems to happen far too often for a player of his experience.

Thought Murphy was terrible and offered nothing all game, he doesn't have any hold up play, he doesn't win headers, he doesn't make defenders work. He scored though so what can you say.

Echo ianexofrochdales sentiments though, Hill really hasn't got a clue tactics or substitution wise. If it's going well he can get away with it but if not he's fucked.

With the bench he had available there wasn't much there to change a game outside Verlinden.

It's been the same since he's been here, other than bringing on one of the yoof there's been no options.

Amount of injuries are killing us every week somebody gets injured squad just isn't big enough and not enough quality could do with improving in January  if possible.

Considering what we’ve been through, and the late signing of players at the transfer deadline, I’m delighted.   Like KH said, if we keep looking back we will keep banging our head, let the Accrington score go and let’s move on.  We’ve got a injury list that would damage any side in this league, the kids have come in and are maturing, it’s not going to happen over night, but they will get there.   I’m happy with the direction we are going in as a club, we as fans are hardened and it’s the best period I’ve had in being at the match outside the Allardyce era for fans mentality of understanding where the club is.   Let’s keep it that way until the tide turns for us and beyond.

On reflection the point was a fantastic result given the experienced players we have out, and bearing in mind the Accy result and what that must have done to confidence. Get a few of the older heads back and we might just give someone a good hiding.

If weir is a perm, it wont help us much but i hear hes off to sunderland

No time for hill

Is it not the other way. He’s hooked him early a few times?

Pretty much like any other manager in football then.

Could well be

Has to be said, weir does seem to have a career where hes managed to avoid playing many games

Aye. Will be interesting to see what we have lined up.

I’m still convinced you don’t need to shell out fees in this division.

Really need to hit the ground running

Weir is a poor player, will be delighted to make room by shipping him out

Well yes he scored ...what a tosser ?? He won lots of headers not read by his team mates & bear in mind when a team lacks confidence like ours they tend to hit it long more than usual which puts him under constant pressure.Good as we will get at this level from target man perspective.Verlinden substitution at HT was spot on & it wasnt going well was it?

I think Darcy showed he has the brains and the fitness to make the runs off Murphy

Was his second miss a run in behind Murphy?

Think so.

Only criticism I'd make of his performance yesterday is that on occasions, he joined in with the front line a little too early. Plenty to appreciate though.

Re Murphy; I think folk have to remember he's mid thirties and we can't expect him to be running here there and everywhere. He's putting the ball in the net regularly, and that's what we need. Better service and he'll get more.

Agreed.

I don't quite get the criticism of Murphy, he always puts an honest shift in + he knows were the net is at this level.

I bet the bloke is black + blue the day after a game, because he gets plenty of very close attention from centre halves.

Yes, indeed.

As he gets tightly marked, if we can get someone forward from midfield occasionally (as Darcy was trying) to get beyond, it should help us create more too.

I just thought his all round play yesterday was poor and hangover had me all ranty. Bottom line is that if he can carry on getting a goal every other game then I'd be fine with him sitting reading a book for the other 89 mins.

Darcy would definitely be worth a go in the role Crawford was starting to perform well in, he's a willing runner, good engine, and head up looking for a pass.

What about playing Dodoo closer to Murphy with Darcy in behind, linking midfield 3 with front lads? Free him up from too much defensive work.
