I was hoping for some more signs of progress by now but from a first team perspective there's not many 'building blocks' - no one you would really build a team round next season for example. Signings like Nsiala I just don't get. I know he's a loan but I thought he wanted to play out from the back and Nsiala is never that type of player. Makes me wonder if anyone watched him play before signing. Disagree there. For all we can pick defensive errors from him (both goals v Wycombe arguably, Coventry goals, Bristol goal), he does pass the ball out. Often to the extent that he hangs on for it too long because he really wants to make a good pass to feet. His distribution is decent, no problem with that part of his game, same as Hobbs. Surely nobody can deny Hill is trying to get all 4 defenders passing it to feet, whether its working or not is another matter but I'd rather see them trying it than launching it every time.
February 18, 20206 yr I'll 100000% deny KH is doing that as Hobbs started last game and that isn't his game at all.

I cant see how in our position we can achieve such an overhaul. If there are such wholesale changes it will take ages for them to gel. A promotion push is asking a lot. I would have hoped there would be some signs already but there isnt.

Not convinced about Nsialas distribution at all. He seems uncomfortable with the ball at his feet and needs someone 5 yards away to take it off him. Perhaps that's due to a lack of confidence which was mentioned he was lacking when he signed for us - which also makes the signing baffling. Would agree that I would prefer them trying to play from the back.

I don't think many people have grasped that yet.

To be fsir, I'd forgotten sbout Delaney, but of the youngsters, I think only Politic is guaranteed to have a major impact on the team. From what I've seen of him, I'd hope Brockbank will make the right-back position his own as well but I'm not certain of it.
February 18, 20206 yr Taking a while for Darcy to sign a contract .Anybody get the feeling all is not well in camp Hillcroft ?

It's a concern that he hasn't signed considering we can only offer him so much anyway. I don't know if it's anyghing to do with Hill. I think it's more likely he might fancy his chances of finding a better offer elsewhere.
February 18, 20206 yr So, we are looking at adding 16 players And some folk still haven't realised it's very likely plenty won't be seasoned internationals, rather bargain basement, fit the embargo criteria types

We're going to have to get creative.

Aye, I doubt we can offer him what he thinks he's worth Next year's wages would surely be in line with whatever the embargo says re div 4 But there's no less reason to play Darcy than others who won't be here next year

February 19, 20206 yr I think of all the loony football decisions made by the Eddie Davies/Phil Gartside double act (£2 million for Shittu, £8.2 million for Elmander, appointing Sammy Lee, letting the Cahill and Alonso contracts run down) that turning down £5 million from Swansea after we'd been relegated for this sicknote was the most mental. Who the fuck would pin their promotion hopes over a 46 game season on a proven sicknote such as Mark Davies.... And it's not like the cunt was that good either.Whenever Holden got injured and Davies got a game the results turned to shit

February 19, 20206 yr I work opposite Ronan's uncle, when I asked about the contract situation he was rather cagey, didn't fill me with confidence and I haven't pushed it any further. Right now I'd say it's likely he's gone, which is a shame as that's another young, potentially key player (and most importantly right now, asset) gone for nowt.

If the case (mentioned this before) shouldn't play a game for our club again. We need get young players signed up before there's any interest from other clubs, Darcy will have his head turned more than likely. Annoy's me because he's going to play in some side's u23 squad instead of wanting to carry on developing in our first team.
