Supermarkets are still open in Spain.

For anyone who followed it this is Italy just a few weeks behind. Suggested wfh and suggesting no social contact. Every fucker carries on. Shut schools and wfh... Every fucker carries on. Hospitals over run. Lock down.

People won’t listen until it’s too fucking late, get the Police and Military on the streets and lock the place down

Only language some will understand

It’s getting crazy with our Supermarkets

Each day, sales are dwarfing the previous day, unprecedented demand

The biggest issue will be continuing to staff them all, plenty of staff getting abused in stores, they don’t get paid enough for that shit! Add in the fact they are on the front line, mixing with thousands of people, many of them getting on a bit, it’s perfect for a virus to spread, they definitely don’t get paid enough!

Won’t be long until the Supermarkets are struggling to get enough staff on the shop floor to get the food out.

Heard something last night. All our army personnel would fit in old Trafford.

If true, there's no way the could cover the whole country, even added to the police.

They will stay open here - they're considered essential. Otherwise people won't have food.

Isn't capacity to move to delivery only either. Do you think takeaways will still open? Will drivers want to risk it? Hope so.

I've had porridge made with water and some packet soup today. It's like being on a caravan holiday with my folks in the 70s.

few 24 hour stores are now closing at 10pm as they need to get the shelves stacked again, complete madness

Gonna be some party when this is all over.

It's always about controlling the rate at which people get it.

Complete lockdown may well work, but it would have to be for so long to ensure (if possible) that it's died out that there's every chance it won't as folk decide to toss it off. Police and army etc can't cover the entire country to keep order.

So the alternative is to accept the infection but to find the balance between droconian measures, managing infection within the NHS and allowing some sense of economic normality.

The plan they outlined last week stated that more stringent measures would follow, so it seems like the it's being followed.

I think we may well be on a cycle here - spread, restrict till capacity, lockdown - NHS deals with it, frees up resources, repeat

we may not

I'll reassess in an hour

stacking shelves is not mentally challenging, so zero hours contracts for those who've had it to help out at supermarkets to cover any short falls they may have from their job which they can't do due to lockdown

That’s my current thinking that this is going to be how it is until a vaccine comes out or we’ve all got this herd immunity

I was thinking this during the briefing yesterday, Johnson will come out with a glib comment like "so, off you go, down the pub and enjoy yourselves, spend some money" and it'll kick off some serious sessions.

Tell me about it. Total lack of VPN availability too, I've given up for the day and will just work at night instead this week.

Really? I haven't noticed any issues with mobile calls or my VPN to work. Sounds like a lack of capacity for your company.
