Is it gonna spread like covid and cause another lockdown and world panic?

It probably is Covid.

A Kawasaki like syndrome is seen in a tiny percentage of coivd positive kids.

Basically kids who get a bad case of covid don't seem to get the respiratory symptoms, just the  overactive immune response.  It's a very very small proportion, there's been 100 cases requiring hospitalisation in NY state - 3-5 have died - out of an estimated 1million infected U18s .

We've had 12 under 19s die (only 2 in the last month)  in the UK already, many with the overactive immune response, the Media have just given it a new name, that's all.  It accounts for 0.02% of the suspected covid deaths.

But it’s always been present in the world just a very minute amount of cases no? What I read this morning said there was no definitive link between it and Covid but you state it probably is Covid? I’m the furthest from a medical expert or don’t profess to be one just wondered why you are saying that and on what basis?

and it would appear from reading that it’s name has always been Kawasaki disease so again it isn’t a recent media driven thing  the name

Now then, I can report that my throat is less sore this morning. A better sleep too.

Having tried the cucumber test, I found it quite painful, certainly upon insertion. Perhaps I should have lubed it with salad cream first.

Interestingly, having had some really crispy chips on Monday, I'm assuming it was these that left the cucumber, upon retrieval, peeled in a spiral like in far Eastern food origami. A boon.

That's why they're saying 'Kawasaki like' as it's not neccesarily the same syndrome it just presents similarly.

Ah ok that makes sense. So it’s not the same thing it just displays similar symptoms so our wonderful media have latched onto it

Don't think anyone at this stage is saying definitively. They're pointing out that this is happening, here and elsewhere to a very small number of children.

As a Doctor myself this sort of thing really ticks me off. I appreciate you were joking but you really shouldn't use that title unless qualified to do so. I refused to use it until I'd seen over 3 seasons of 'House' and I didn't attain forensic pathologist status until I'd watched several episodes of Quincy, and even a few Silent Witness's.

It's not just in the medical field either. I saw someone giving an opinion on footage of an arrest, but on further scrutiny it turned out they'd not even got one full season of TJ Hooker under their belts.

That username was a retort to all the ayn rand references that peppered the takeover thread. It may inadvertently make me look like a pretentious cunt.

Probably more chance of dying in an RTA or an accident in a park?

Probably more chance of the toaster jumping in the bath with you to be honest pal. But it creates headlines doesn’t it

Even massively giving them the benefit of the doubt that this is a temporary issue, and the internal reporting systems need to catch up with the rapid rise in testing - this is about the opposite of test, track and trace.
