As an aside did they rip off 'The Jean Genie' or did Bowie do them?

Also sounds like the tune off some handheld vac advert from years ago - perhaps they swiped it from there?

Both songs were written at roughly the same time and charted at the same time - late 1972/ early 1973, but each had a different writer.

Both writers denied copying the other, as there wasn't the time to enable that to happen.

Both riffs were based on some old Muddy Waters/Bo Didley Blues song.

Google pip!

Why didn't Bowie use his song to finger Savile, then?

The nonce-enabler...

Unless he did that already with 'The Laughing Gnome'?

They can sit alongside Johnny Rotten as honourable voices of (then) dissent then.

It was the 70s mate. A different time.

That's a fucking cheap shot and you know it (you only have to look at the 'liker' to know this).

Comparing systematic paedophilia from the 70's onwards to something that happened hundreds of years ago? No doubt you'll be out marching somewhere soon?

The statue is there to celebrate his  generosity. What has been ignored is where the money came from.

Bollocks.

I think the countries with women in charge have done better in this pandemic. The New Zealand woman has done a fantastic job for her country

Well she is a 'red' so I shouldn't be surprised. Any fucker should be capable of stopping the spread in a small, low population place like that. Western Australia has had similar results.

You mean ‘bollocks’ he has made a point I can not disagree with ? Swanny pointed out why the statue was there. It has been argued for years in Bristol and that is why it is there.

Do you honestly think back in the day no one thought forcibly taking 100k people from their homes, branding them with the company logo and sticking them on boats were 20% of them died and the survivors were then pushed into forced Labour was wrong ?

It happened 100s of years ago but that does not make it acceptable. In the same way people turning a blind eye to Saville and the abuse around him was not acceptable.
Read what I have said, personally I do think statue should be there, people in Bristol have voted for it to be there so the protesters have no right to remove it. If it is going to be there as a historical piece then there should be some reference to the full picture and where the money came from.  Which bit are you over reacting to ?

I was going to type an answer to each paragraph but fuck it. Losing the will to live.

Daft cunts springing up all over the place now demanding that various statues be removed. One bloke slapped his childs arse; another purposely missed the spittoon; another used to shout at folk and one was an expert at delivering withering glares. Are we going to delve into the histories of every statue around the country. Bobby Moore down for jewellery theft? Fred Dibnah off at the knees for mistreating his missus? Field Marshall Ponsonby-Smythe for an unnatural relationship with a gorilla?

The world's truly fucked if these holier than thou types have fuck all else to worry about. Let's hope Covid 19 teaches them a lesson.

Yes let’s hope people with a different opinion get the virus and potentially die.

The Govt have scrapped their plans for all primary school pupils to be back in school before September, the problem being the govt's own guidelines on social distancing were impossible to meet. There are some large exhibition centres not being used can they not be converted into temporary class rooms for some?

I think not opening is right. Just seems too risky. Sadly rather being seen as the Govt basing this on today’s circumstances will be seen as climbing down.
