  • Other benefits aren’t affected I think pal.    My place are saying to folk we will pay you the extra 20% if you burn a weeks holiday which is fair enough I think and gives folk the choice then

  • Can I request it because trying to work from home with 2 kids is giving me a stress induced heart attack!

  • Jesus Take the 80% and be fucking grateful that the system we pay into is coming to the party. It's not like we've all got weekends out/holidays/anything at all extra to pay for. It'll cover

Finally got a furlough letter and it made me realise that a lot of us might already be in their second 3 week period or about to start it, can't work out if it's flying or if it feels like it's been ages.

Letter also cleared up that we are having to take enforced holidays as we go along which we didn't know at the start . There's a lot of details that people still don't seem sure about, just have to hope employers and employees play fair really.

Out of interest what are you being told about holidays

Don't want to be a dick with my lot but same time, I can't afford em all coming back with full holidays

We're being told we accrue as normal and have to take 2 days per month which will be paid at normal rate not 80%.

One problem is that regardless of how it actually works our holidays are viewed as 20 plus bank holidays and so in effect people will see that they are accruing holidays at a rate of 1.67 days a month and using them at a rate of 2 per month.

Hmmm

Our advice from legal support is we can require hols to be taken so long as we give adequate notice and they will be paid at 80

Think I read something about double the notice for the length of the holidays so 4 days notice for 2 days holiday.

why Do the holidays get paid at 80?

We have to take them by H2 or else they are taken from us, same for the staff that are in furlough

Tricky ground!

Obviously some of the holiday entitlement is being accrued at 80%, but not necessarily the amount of holiday that might be asked to be taken!

I think employers need to tread carefully here

Howdo

Our firm (national food /funeral /insurance) are saying that any already booked holidays have to be taken. No cancellations allowed

Otherwise every cunt is angling for all of August off!

Luckily I've nowt booked as I usually book my summer hols based on my bonus!

Reet, just had the lowdown.

As someone mentioned, you can be requested to take holiday, though twice the amount of time notice has to be given ... i.e. if they want you to take a week, you must be given 2 weeks notice.

However, any holiday taken MUST be paid at 100%, the employer can still claim the 80%, but will have to find the extra 20%.

A decision on holiday accrual during furlough hasn't been decided if it's at 80% or 100%. A decision is expected next week apparently.

we have been able to cancel our leave, going to be a shit storm when the pubs re open

I heard Martin Lewis say you could carry over and utilise next year, although our ceo was indicating by September you had to have used 75% of your entitlement !!

So bank holidays we’ve just had should’ve been paid full?

Anybody, be it employer or employer looking to take the piss needs shooting

Not sure if this may be of some help

Leave affected by coronavirus (COVID-19)

Workers may be able to carry over untaken leave into the next 2 years if they cannot take it because their work is affected by coronavirus.

They can do this if, for example:

  • they’re key workers, such as healthcare or supermarket workers
  • they need to provide cover for their co-workers and have no other opportunity to take holiday in their leave year
  • there will be staff shortages if too many workers take their leave before the end of the leave year once the coronavirus outbreak is over

If a worker is able to take leave, the standard rules for carrying over leave still apply.

I used to work for a bloke who spent many years working for Co-OP. He used to say '30 years man and boy'  without irony.   I think he must have lost his job when the shit hit the fan. He used to rattle off all the areas he'd worked in  (retail, funerals, travel, pharmacies, insurance, farming?!) and I'd do impressions of him and embellish it with daft additions like 'pornography', 'nuclear armaments' and 'illicetly traded fine arts.' Still have dealings with him now, really good bloke, Manchester Jewish. He used to get really uptight when the 'Crystal Methodist' was mentioned. It's a movement that inspires a great deal of loyalty fair play to you Stevie.  Nearly ended up working there myself many years ago but that's another even more boring story!

Keep it up Stevie. Co-Op is a good organisation with a lot of good people.

You've no chance of getting what I'm on about cos quite clearly, I'm quite smashed.

We've been told we can carry them over to 2022! And that they reserve the right to cancel should we be short-staffed.

Any idea what time we can start to claim this CJRS?

If thats the money, your employer does it

Then pays you

I think today is the day that employers can claim the furlough cash, isn't it?
