He was the reserve defender who could fill in at either full back or centre half.

How many came to us via the Dudley scout? Roy Hartle, Dennis Stevens, Sam Allardyce are 3 that spring to mind.

Shame the Dudley scout missed out on Duncan Edwards.

I heard Ridding went to see him in Dudley but it was a no, apparently Wolves manager went every day to meet him after school to persuade him to sign but he only ever had eyes for Man U, what a fateful decision that was.
