Sat back sipping a Moscow Mule with a contented smile.

Been a memorable week. :drinks:

Growing up it was always Blackburn, the red shite and Blackpool but since moving to Wigan cant stand them that could  also be because I go and watch Wigan rugby team.

They engineered this rivalry.. they picked the fight.

Anyway is it 12.30 today we find out which billionaire pie merchant is the preferred bidder?

I grew up hating utd, as i got a bit older it was wolves i hated and still do.

Lots of others i dont like

Blackburn

Burnley

Middlesbrough

Tranmere

Leeds

West Ham,.   But i don't really ever give the likes of Bury or Wigan a 2nd thought when it comes to rivalry.

TBH, i didn't even realize till very recently that Bury hated us. And i must have been 15-16 before i know Wigan had a football club.

Before I decided to take a career break, I worked near Wolverhampton for a good few years, generally they are actually Ok, very similar to us supporting their local team, but with a weird depressing accent. Their bitter rivals are West Brom. They still get wound up by the mention of John McGinlay, good for banter.  To cap it off my daughter's boyfriend is a Wolves fan, handed down from his dad. He was most impressed when without telling him we took him to the Albert in Horwich when McGinlay junior had  it, and introduced him 🤣

No I wouldn’t expect it to be revealed until next month. But I could be wrong

Aye. We're not that tin pot.

It's nice Wigan are down but sat watching sky sports news watching them get relegated due to admin is nowhere near on a par with a 40 year old stump keeping us up in the last minute!

Too right.  Wibraham day was a 9 out of 10 in my supporting history, probably just topped by the play off finals days that we won.

Wigan's relegation is a 4 or 5 out of 10, and we havent had many 4 or 5 out of 10 days in the last couple of years, aside from the Wycombe "we still exist" game obviously.  Beating Tranmere was a nice feeling at the time, and the 0-0 v Cov was emotional, but both a bit meaningless in the long run.

Calm down

I admit I was thinking of on field results only and not the fact that a year ago or so we came out the other side of admin.  Obviously what happens to another club doesn't come close to that, yes I got a bit forgetful in my excitement.  And winning at WBA in the match after Wilbraham day was up there too.

I think the point is that our club's history is determined by what it does itself, not by a local "rival" getting relegated.

Bolton scoring a goal whilst 3-0 down gives me more pleasure than anything that could happen at any other club. Each to their own though.

I'd like to agree, but listening to the commentary of our last game, Burton away, when we scored twice I tried to engender some enthusiasm and interest but I just couldnt.  Nobody can generate that "YES" feeling to order, I felt nothing that night even though on paper it was a good result and performance.  I got more excitement out of Charlton's late equaliser the other day.

I like wigan fans suffering

In fact, i like shit happening to most teams fans

They need to fucking suffer

Cos i did and im bitter about it

I’m sure something will leak in the next 24 hours, the potential new owner needs to sign today at 12-30, if it’s signed or otherwise would of thought Krasner will need to disclose it pretty soon even if he doesn’t give the name of the buyer.

Correct but when its a lot who hate us and rejoiced at our problems like this lot is extra satisfying.  No apologies for loving it!!!

My understanding was 31st July was the meaningful day. We are way adrift of anything Concrete here. Interestingly the appeal is 31st July as well I believe

No fucking way this is getting overturned

Think I read that 12.30 today was the deadline set by Krasner for the preferred bidder to sign the deal. If it’s not signed then I’d expect they’ll revisit the “other” offers.

There is still a possibility the Latics could receive an additional 15-point deduction next season and a transfer embargo for up to two years. The punishments will only apply if new club owners are in default of any agreement in relation to secured creditor claims.

what does sentence 2 mean

And why are they not already under embargo

Did we get ours for someting other than going into admin?

Football rules not legal rules. Secured creditors have a minimum percentage threshold to be repaid by the new owners.

Okey coke, so if one of this first lot proceed its unlikely that they get -15

Why were we placed under the trnsfer embargo, though?

The rules specify going in to admin before the four Thursday in March rather than a certain point of the season. Obviously they didn’t envisage the season extending in to July but if they get one of those lawyers who are experts at loopholes with speeding tickets etc and they might be on to summat.

Either way, they are fucked. Even if they win an appeal and stop up (don't see it happening) they are going to have to trim their wage bill by at least £1m/month before they can think about replacing them players they sold.

No new owners are going to come in and bank roll them with the losses they are making now.

Best case scenario for them, they win the appeal, stay up and have to replace people like Moore with Magennis and Morsy with Oztumer etc.

Couldn’t give a fuck about the club personally. But understand why the younger lot hate them. I grew up with the blackburn rivalry 20 or so years ago when we both went down and were challenging for promotion etc so they’re the ones for me

it’s the fans that are the irritants. Similar to bury. But bury are like a little annoying fly you’re happy to swat away. Wigan’s are like a yappy little mutt constantly biting at your ankles. Eventually you just smash it right in the fucking teeth

no matter how shit we are Bury are always worse and Wigan always try to be us. Bless em both

Normally you'd associate a local derby with the game that everyone wants a ticket for.  Spurs fans will do everything to not miss Arsenal home and away, likewise Sunderland v Newcastle, etc.  I dont have a great desire to go to a Bolton v Wigan game any more than any other game.  Next time we're in the championship I'll be looking forward to our derbies v PNE, Blackburn, hopefully Burnley.  I dont look forward to playing Wigan, I hope we pass them on the way up and they dont get to come here again, except for novelty value sometime.  They are like Tranmere in many ways, I dont want to see them.  I relish going to Ewood or Turf Moor and to a lesser extent Deepdale, they are the games you want on the fixture list.
