Mansfield Home

Not won a game this season, no manager, must win, should win, but this is BWFC and we are very charitable.

But a win it is.......... 2-0

Interesting comments from Evatt eluding to the fact he believes Mansfield are double on wages what we are pits a little bit of a reality check on things that if it’s true.

evatt won’t know how much they have spent budget wise and can’t see it being double we’re all in a salary cap .

It wasn’t long ago clubs were accusing us of trying to buy the league when we signed Doyle

Now he wants everyone to be realistic but at the start of the season he was telling us and is mrs about klopp and Pepe not winning a title in there first season and doing just that

Everything stems from the keeper and Crellin is too inexperienced for the job.

If we keep clean sheets, we are at least picking up a point or winning a few more which breeds confidence and better performances. The defence looks jittery because they are. There is no confidence in Crellin at all.

Evatt should have known better than to have a 20 year old with no experience as his no 1. Maybe he was desperate to get his outfield players in.

Im hoping we’ve got enough at the heart of the defence to replace Baptiste. Get to January, get a new keeper and L.B, we’ll be much better

Pretty much this.

Part of the plan was to play from the back and defenders would have the option of playing it forwards, sideways or back to a ball-playing keeper. The more options you have, the better, but the players now look unwilling to let Crellin near the ball.

Lad comes for everything and misses plenty. His punching is weak when he does connect and the only understanding I can see forming between him and the back 3/4/5 is one of distrust.

Salary cap relates to new contracts but excludes players already on the books I believe

I'd think clubs will definitely know what other clubs are spending on wages

Didn’t they work an average out for players already under contract and include it into the cap ? . Otherwise a club needing to sign a complete squad would be at a massive disadvantage

They would know who the big spenders are such as Salford and we were getting lumped into that by other clubs rightly or wrongly. But to say Mansfield is double doesn’t sit right it’s another excuse

Indeed another excuse

Bolton and Mansfield were 1st and 2nd in the betting before the season started, probably based on their budgets.Mansfield finished 4th from bottom last season so it wasnt based on that.

Never ever thought our wage bill was big. Granted Doyle Sarcevic, Crawford, Delfounsou, and Comley would be on a decent wedge.

Three loan signings are peanuts Crellin,White Kioso The fact kioso can be recalled tells me Luton are paying part of his wage. The rest of the signings will be on very little.

Why would Comley be on a decent wage ? He was released by Colchester.

Bolton & Salford were 1st and 2nd (4/1 and 13/2) in the betting.

Colchester i think released all there players before the end of the season was officially ended.

The fact he had the best completion pass rate in lge 2 last season would have held some bargaining power.

I wonder how many of those were forward passes.

Mansfield signed a lot of the players in the summer as they looked to back Coughlin.  They sacked him after it went awry this year.  It's not a comparison Evatt wants to be making imo

Mansfield also had a highly rated manager at the time who had dropped down a division from Bristol rovers so that would of had something to do with it . But as mentioned before when I looked it was us and Salford bookies fav .

anyway we can all agree it’s not good enough what ever way you cut it

Bang on, for me. Some of our players just aren't good enough, and I'm not convinced he signed them. I get the impression he knows which ones and is doing his best to get them out of his team, but his hands are tied at the moment.

He had to rely on an unfit Delfounseo as his only proper centre forward tonight, then Brockbank went off injured and he could only replace him with a player who looks nowhere near being up to it. Its showing.

Yet 3 of the worst of the current starting line up, Baptiste, White and Crellin (in my opinion) are clearly IE signings - ex teammates or teammates of ex teammates etc.  He can get rid of as many of the unwanted left footed defenders as he likes but if he rates those 3 as starters its going to take a while to improve significantly.

He is stubborn it's obvious 352 with these players are not  capable to play this system the left wing backs are appalling he brought them in to play as wing backs and unfortunately they are shit at it.

I would like to see a system change but it's not going to happen so every game is going to be the same .

I don't think he's playing them because he wants to, but because he thinks he has to

I doubt they'll be starters in the second half of the season, assuming Evatt makes it that far

Let’s not get into Mansfield’s wage bill

no wins in 14

As bad as that record is, they've only lost 4.  We've lost 5, scored less than them and conceded more.  So we are 1 of 7 teams that have come away from a game against them potentially saying "we should be beating this lot".  After the first 20 minutes I thought they looked as good as any team we've played (I know, that's not saying much).

If we get an equaliser it will be our first goal in the 2nd half at home since Tranmere on 1st Feb!

So I'd take that as a positive even if we only drew, just to see us rescue a game at home would be something to hang onto.

You taking yesterday’s result as a positive then?

I find that hard to believe - not saying you aren't right, I simply don't know.  But if he's being forced to pick those 3, or any 3 come to that, we might as well jack it in and he might as well clear off because his reputation and CV is effectively in their hands.

Too right I am!  I'll take anything positive at the moment, amongst all the many negatives.  When the 2nd half was settling down and it was clear we were 2nd best, I would have snatched your hands off not only for a point, but to actually score a late, 2nd half goal.

And also a well made and taken goal into the bargain, from 2 players that most of us would like to see have an impact.

Good lad, the future is bright 😆
