Its appeasement, that's all it is, and more people will end up dying in the longer term if you essentially capitulate to agressors. These aren't peace deals in the slightest.

  • We’ve reached a point where folk are so entrenched in their support for trump that they’ll side with Putin if it means not losing face on the socials. Thats where we are now. its ok

  • That Vance is a bigger cunt than Trump

Echoes of Hitler.

Instead of finishing the work of targeting our airfields, he chose to have a pop at London and civilians.

Big mistake; militarily, would they not be better using their small stockpile on advancing Ukrainian forces?

As brutal as it is, in the overall picture, it's better that this happens and the forces continue their push to eradicate Russian occupying forces.

Definitely a military target as it’s a supply route.

My thoughts also. I can't understand why he would be stupid enough to think that targeting civilians would do anything other than galvanise the enemy's population against him. Other than him being the barbarian we feared him to be who sees anyone standing in his way as subhuman. What's all this slowly escalating to here?...

Only thing about the Russian cruise missiles both air and surface launched, they're apparently not that accurate not in the way Western audiences have been groomed to get used to since the Gulf War so it might not be that easy for them to target mobile Ukrainian forces. Far easier to launch them "in the direction of" large population centres.

He’s getting desperate.

We really need to hope his inner circle do the right thing because it’s getting harder to beleive that he won’t try a nuke

If he used nukes I think China would be as pissed off as the west and he won’t want to lose their backing. That is what I’m hoping will prevent Putin going that way but he is starting to get desperate.

Whats the difference between standard use of nukes and tactical use?

I hear he’s brought the guy in who overseen the Syrian bombings it’s going to get a lot worse.

A tactical nuke can be launched from a mobile artillery system and will take out a specific target and everything around it. Strategic nukes are long-range and destroy entire cities.

A couple of thousand according to best estimates. He's got about 6000 of the bigger fuckers. Pretty much on a par with the U.S.

It's a bit of a grey area that, I thought that the numbers and readiness of strategic city/world enders are all supposed to be catalogued and accounted for on both sides via nuclear weapons treaties but its a long time since I read up on all that.

Highly unlikely that Russia would be able to move even tactical warheads out of their storage facilities without it being seen by Western surveillance so we'd probably know about it happening well in advance. Can you imagine that news flash fucking hell.

When i was still at school i can remember having a vivid dream that i was in a field near the plodder lane end of smethurst lane, and i was looking up watching a massive missile go overhead towards Walkden i suppose, it was huge and had windows in it.

Whenever i hear the term long range cruise missile i still think of that.

'The Bomb' by Fred Kaplan is a very good read if you're into this sort of thing. It's also slightly terrifying.

I'd have doubts about the "quality" of some of their nuclear arsenal, given the relatively poor nature of some of their conventional stuff. By that I mean accuracy, reliability and availability.

Does he have chemical weapons?

Almost certainly

Unless his bollocking for the novochok incident in Salisbury really made him hang in shame and promise to get rid of his stash…

Yes, he still has chemical weapons.
