“You can’t grow concrete on trees”

Angry right wing presenter : “yes you can”

One of my favourite clips that one

Remember, even Bolty turned a bit pinko a few years ago, when he wanted Utd to win everything because Mourinho was their manager 😉

 Keep trying pal. I might bite on that one in a couple of decades time.

Gratifying to know that so many are watching. :good:

It is somewhat comical that a number see fit to post so regularly on something they don't watch.

Kinell, TV isn't so special that it's worth posting so significantly about anything; even something you do enjoy and view regularly.

I believe the reason people do, is that some people are gullible enough to swallow this ill-informed news channel that is funded by millionaires from out of the UK, whose main aim is steering the narrative to give them more lobbying power.

So whilst it's easy to laugh at because of it's basic amateurism, it can be quite dangerous when people parrot these positions and use it for form an ill-balanced opinion.

So, not really funny in a ha ha way. More 'for fucks sakes'

Not sure why discussing this should be considered not suitable for a board that discusses everything else.
GB News is just a reflection on how social media works where opinions and theories are confused with facts and news. If that becomes your echo chamber it is easy to see how people become convinced a certain view point is the factually opinion of the majority.

I watched a lot of the US election and the reporting on CNN and Fox was so bias to their own particular side it was shocking. So this is not about being against the right wing it is about responsible reporting.

Look how often the so called main stream media is belittled by people of both sides. The BBC gets slated despite always having people from both sides on in 99% of debates. GB News has Tory Ministers interviewing Tory Ministers. It is just bizarre that people suggest it is balanced.
Away from politics the spread of anti vax propaganda from people with 0 medical experience sums it up. DYOR they cry if you challenge them as they quote a wide variety of Twitter feeds from equally unhinged idiots.

If people choose to watch it fair enough, some of the day time programmes are more balanced , but to claim it is balanced based on its overall output is deluded.

This cracked me up 😂

I think you’ve missed the bit where we’ve all watched some it and pointed out the problems with it.

It’s politics mate, not the latest episode of Corrie, these are debates that shape public support for important policies. If you’re running a news channel then you’ve a certain responsibility to do it professionally. Take a look at that presenter chatting to the climate expert. It’s beyond comical, it’s damaging. Wouldn’t you agree that we’re beyond debating whether there’s actually a problem or not?

Haven’t watched the News properly now for 2 years.

It’s fucking depressing.

Of course I flick through the main headlines on my phone for about a minute in the morning & that’s it.

Try it, you’ll feel better for it.

I remember when the news was just on at 6pm and 9pm for half an hour and always finished with a lighthearted story about a panda that couldn’t get a bonk on.

Having to fill 24/7 scheduling for 9 or 10 channels means it’s become a fire that needs constant fuel.

It was still depressing but I take your point & back then it was the only way of keeping in touch.

As an example todays headlines :-

Boris 90 day suspension.

North Koreans waiting to die.

Greek boat disaster.

2 charged with party murder.

Some sex claim.

Nottingham vigil for murders.

NHS amending records after sons suicide.

Constant depressing repetitive shit day after day, year after year.

Anyway I’m off for a walk on those beautiful valley hills.

Feel pretty numb to most of it these days. It would be mentally exhausting otherwise.

Get to the hills.

I remember back in the 90s

Local news, Granada, was all shootings and crime in Manchester and Liverpool

I lived in Cambridgeshire for a year and it was all farming fairs, jam festivals and the odd bit of traffic on an a road because a cow escaped

Different world
