The guy who posted it works on GB news.
Having a shocker here fromage. Hardly surprising

Bit tenuous, but fair enough. Why's he posting a 4 year old clip?

You’re on Twitter, ask him.

I don't post on twitter, so it's probably easier to ask you - what motivated you to share a 4 year old clip?

Maybe it’s time to start posting instead of just lurking, especially if you want answers.

Don't worry, I understand why you're too embarrassed to say.

The abuse by the teacher is shocking.

The (former) teacher seems happy to mock...💣

I’m not mocking the story 😂 this is the first I’ve heard so I asked to hear more about it.

Clearly the teacher loses their cool and handles it badly. To be honest, reading the initial article, it’s just all completely surreal. The link Cheese posts shows that there’s a lot more to it than that recording and that the whole teenagers genuinely identifying as cats story is a bit of an exaggeration. That being said, I did once work with an autistic lad who loved being Gromit the dog for half of the day.

Sadly we live in an age of social media where people (from both sides of politics) shape their views based on short video clips, with no effort to find out the bigger picture. It’s dangerous and often a rumour becomes a fact before there’s time to hear the other side.

Like most people I’m just sick of all this culture war bollocks. From both sides. If someone wants to identify as cisgender then I honestly couldn’t care less and see it is as harmless. At the same time people who think it is harmful should be given a platform to voice that, as long as they’re not going around insulting folk. Surely then that’s when a teacher has to step in.

I’ll be going back to the dark side in a couple of months. Class of 33. Luckily they will be too young for these kinds of conversations. Definitely don’t envy the secondary teachers who have to have these conversations. Away from the media headlines and shock stories, you can probably guarantee that the majority handle it in the right way and do a great job under tough circumstances.

When I taught, I talked about football and that was about it. If a kid tried to steer the conversation down a tricky route I'd just act numb.

When asked if I thought the English teacher was fit, I asked which English teacher? Never heard of her.

She was really, really fit.

😂

Exaggerated headlines aside, most kids are having the same kind of conversations.

If kids had cameras on their phones in the 60s & 70s then you’d see more dodgy videos in schools than you do now.

Nevermind that - the 90s were pretty ropey with some teachers.

My geography teacher got done for heading up a peado video ring!

Christ. Aye it felt like every school had their own story back then. Sadly too common.

But, but back in the day it was sooo much better.

Remember my dad getting so annoyed about not being able to move on ineffectual teachers. Thankfully that process is a lot better now.

Aye, my dad says similar things when he started teaching.

honestly think the biggest thing missing now is proper community neighbourhoods. Was at this estate visiting a family earlier and whilst it had an edge to it, it was full to the brim with kids playing out. Playing footy, on bikes etc. everyone knows each other and different parents telling them to rein it in if need be. Very rare I see neighbourhoods like that anymore.

There’s my but, but back in the day 😂

Well they did that around George Tom's and the intake was still a challenge

3 kids fucking about at the end of my cul-de-sac earlier as I walked to my car; one with a bottle stuck in his back tyre doing motorbike sounds, one with a face full of some sort of blue ice pop and one cross legged randomly chucking stones.

Not sure kids are that different these days, at that age at least.

Sounds like mine playing on my street.

None identifying as cats?

I hear they’re everywhere, even the cul-de-sacs

Not that I've envied teachers as I've seen how hard the job is. But nowadays with students filming I wouldn't want to be in a classroom.

It's little wonder recruitment is down. Everyone of my family is a teacher or ex teacher. My cousin is a head of maths in Hull, 5 years of decent results, this year it dipped below the average GCSE results across Humberside and he has to justify his position, without accountability that the intake was just a poor year.

For the wage I just don't know why folk do it unless it's a real calling.

Don't think I've ever seen kids out on my street. Mind you from 9 onwards we have a fair amount of small drug picks ups which might have something to do with it. That and families can't really afford to live here and send their kids to a decent school unless they can afford one of the 10 minor public schools in a 10 minute distance.

To be honest I am not sure if you are taking the piss or are serious?

Nah, that's sadly the truth. We're on a quiet Rd that you can get to in five mins from Lewisham so we get a load of middle class lads picking up their gear.

I live opposite a synagogue and last year 50k worth of coke was found in a bag outside their garage that had been left for another dealer to pick up 😄

On the plus side we never get any trouble as the gangs don't want to bring any attention to the area.
