1/3rd of Scotland facing water scarcity as of last week. Absolutely bonkers for this part of the world.

Joking aside for a second, yes, this is correct. I wonder if increased population plays a part? Asking for a friend.

too many fossils living too long while contributing balls all

much of the lack of water is down to wastage due to insufficient investment in infrastructure

privatised companies dont really give a shit about stuff like that

mental how the companies can get away with not fixing stuff and how they don't keep a closer eye on stuff. my mates had a leak for about 6 months it turns out. 850litres an hour. all going down the drain. hell of a lot of water that

Does that include all of those who have had a full working life and contributed all the way through with taxation etc?

Fair enough then. Once the Soylent Green processing plant is complete, at what age do folk take their final journey?

A serious response....the water companies have closed down reservoirs but not opened as many new ones.

Reasons for no new ones related to greenies objections by any chance? Should never be water shortages in the UK as a whole. I could see how the south might have problems from time to time but the north of England?

I think Greenies would be just as likely to object to ones being closed down as they would to one being built. According to the Express no new ones built for 30 years.

None of the water companies seem willing to invest in the infrastructure.  Not at the expense of reducing shareholders dividends at any rate.

Shareholders and stock holders are all that matter.

These are our countries hardest working individuals who deserve our admiration.

Not just gamblers. Grafters.

We’ve enough water. Always will have.

Pouring sewage into it might be the real issue

They’re both equally important issues. Plenty experts saying we’re at serious risk of not having enough. Europe is warming at a much faster rate than the rest of the world and many in the UK wrongly assume we’re safe. Get those emissions down, something we’re far more likely to do once the Tories are gone.

Fixing the leaks and new reservoirs is a must for now. Nationalisation isn’t always the answer but these companies have done little for our water system and need to start being held to account.

The privatisation of water companies is a disaster. Absolutely no competition and piss poor regulation.

If anyone can give a better appraisal, I am all ears.

No, I think you’ve captured the situation quite accurately.
