Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted September 27, 2021 Site Supporter Share Posted September 27, 2021 Just got a text from United utilities asking me to help conserve water stocks as they're low, and a link to getwaterfit. Anyone else got one?
ErnestTurnip
Mentioned it last week, they've been sending emails out a while now. Last one I had said reservoirs were at 36% instead of 70%. Edited September 27, 2021 by ErnestTurnip

Members Rudy
They should get a line installed direct from rivington services on the M61 to the reservoir because that is the wettest place on earth

Site Supporter Spider Posted September 27, 2021 Site Supporter Share Posted September 27, 2021 (edited) We should just use our reservoirs up Rivvy instead of letting the fucking scousers have it. They like to bleat on about being self sufficient, so nows their chance. Get your own water, you mirthless cunts. Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted September 27, 2021 Author Site Supporter Share Posted September 27, 2021 I knew the levels were low, but still a surprise to receive a text. They must be reasonably concerned. Owain has just allayed any worries though.
Burnden Pies
When it was North West Water the rezzies were regularly dredged and the gullies up on the tops regularly cleared, meaning more capacity in said rezzies and more supply via the run off water. Years of UU stewardship has put paid to that. But hey, that's progress
Not in Crawley
You've got to be gutted considering how much it pisses down.
ErnestTurnip
Think UU only made 600million profit last year so you can't really blame them for not cracking on with maintenance.

Looking at the ones round here, they're often surrounded by hills, so you'd expect surface run off to get into them as readily as seepage. Drainage in upland areas is being stopped up anyway for peat conservation/re wetting for carbon capture and flood mitigation.

Some wet days but lower total.
stevieb
Mrs got it and sent it on this morning just as it sounded like my bedroom window was sailing the North Sea. Went round anglezarke last week too. They're 'low' by being about 5% down normal levels for this time of year. We're due rain for about the next 6 months none stop. Cue... Daily mail 'water shortage... Stock up now....' people filling their bath just in case!
