Booo.

Keep knocking medical lumps out of each other.

Have a gander at Doctor Alex. He seems clued up on things.

Barnes Ward at Bolton Royal Infirmary was like a geezers sleep over.

For any ex-military types, pretty sure the starting dose of Brufen was 1200mg, two 600mg horse tablets, 3 times a day.

Knees, hips, back, shoulders, all sorted. Till you hit 40!!!

What a fucking star that lad is. People call him spazzy affectionately, and I appreciate that's not a great word these days, but fuck it 🙌 to the bloke.

Had to laugh really, because he could do your head in at times.

As you say, he is a star. He's our "spaz" and folk love him.

Great to see Darron still with us and still a Wanderer … he must of been about 12 when he used to dance for the coins in the lever end. Great personality the lad… I’m fond of Down’s syndrome kids/adults they’re usually ace.

You're right. 800mg is within prescribing parameters under certain conditions. But I wouldn't go on a football forum full of drinkers and tell people that it's 'perfectly safe'. It's not.

In didn't say 'urban myth' I said legend. As in, it may have happened but it's lists in the most of time. I'm not sure when you worked in hospitals but I've never heard of it happening in this day and age. I'm sure there are isolated cases here and there. But it's I heard of in my experience. But if you say you regularly saw it with your own eyes, then that's good enough for me. I'm often regaled with stories of smoking and drinking on the wards by some of the older crew.

How about that for a compromise? 🙂🫡

Ha ha , yeah fair enough and you are right Im out of date for many things . I started out in the early 1990s but it wasnt "that" long ago that ICU had medicinal whiskey in the CD cupboards , Stout bein prescribed on the maternity wards and in orthopaedics that friends could bring in a takeaway and a 6 pack of lager for some patients .

Every hospital had smoking rooms and scocial clubs or hospital bars . I can even tell you a story of a bunch of junior doctors at particular hospital "borrowed" a cadaver from the morgue , on a particularly boozey session , dressed it and put it in the corner of the social club with a pint and a pipe . This was only discovered when the barman came to lock up and the body was the only one left in the place. How they kept that out of press I have no idea .

Doctors and nurses parties were legendary and drugs were everywhere .

Im gonna stand on the Ibuprofen tho , 8oomg on a bellyful of booze and kebabs isnt going to cause a problem . On an empty stomach I might agree but much safer than aspirin and paracetamol (the latter should really be prescription only) and the other 2 dont have the necessary anti-inflammatory properties.

How is paracetamol so bad? I thought it was the safest pain relief available? I can't take aspirin or ibuprofen as it gives me an asthma attack so not much choice really.

None are entirely "safe", but paracetamol is the one folk usually take I would imagine.

Just don't consume too many- nasty things happen.

Of course you are right, taking too many of most Meds such as painkillers isn't good. My mum had horrendous Crohn's all her life and extensive steroid use back in the day absolutely ruined her later years unfortunately.

I was just curious as to the paracetamol claim as I would have thought nsaids would be far worse.

Darron attended, maybe still does a day centre for disabled people when I worked at another centre. I used to take a group to his centre for a swim session.

I'd known about him from Burnden. When he saw me at the swim and realised I was a White he wouldn't leave me alone asking if I'd been, and who was my favourite player.

I'd no idea how old  he was.

I knew and have worked with lots of people with Downs and never met one I didn't like.

I agree.

Some of the meds I take regularly mean that I shouldn't take nsaids. Certainly not in any quantity.

Even without that, they are known for being dicky on the tum.

Likewise. I work in supported housing and I've met some incredibly fun people who have, on the surface of things, lots of problems with everyday life

Not trying to get away from FV thread but I worked with a young man who liked to sing Spice Girls songs. At the end he used to say "that's for you dad" he'd lost his dad through Covid. When I retired he sang the song as usual but at the end he said "that's for you John".

Best get straight up First season when we get there.

imagine they'd have to be some changes at the top should we go up with those numbers

Plenty teams in the Championship owe more than we ever did and are propped up with wealthy owners week on week.....We all know how that ends.

Us ,Reading, Wigan, Derby and Sheff Wed have been down this road in the last few years. Plenty more waiting to join them

The Premier league is even in a worse state......Doubt all teams will come through this in the next few years and it wont be just small teams like Bury and Macc

We dropped out of the Prem at the worst possible time really. The season after we were relegated, parachute payments became more lucrative than actually winning the title a year earlier. Typical Bolton.
