March 26, 20224 yr RIP Al Mather a great bloke , a true wanderer. I hope the club recognise what he did to unite and help fans and families of our great club.
March 26, 20224 yr always thanked folk for the work they did for the group yet him, Steve, Nicola, Carl and all the others went above and beyond. Al really is going to be missed, the time and effort he put in was amazing as part of a great team. R.I.P Al x Edited March 26, 20224 yr by Breightmet Boy
March 26, 20224 yr What horrible news to wake up to this morning. I only met him about 18 months ago but he was lovely. Passionate about BWFC and the effort he put in to the Rememberance Group was admirable. I'll miss chatting to him on matchdays. Thoughts to his family and also the hundreds of friends he clearly had x Edited March 26, 20224 yr by Big City Girl
March 26, 20224 yr Spoke to him the other year and gave him some print advice, suggestions, recommendations, etc. Messaged him a few times here and there. And then finally met him on the coach to Sheff Weds this season. Wasn’t the picture of health, but had a cracking sense of humour on the day. Since met him again at the big Remembrance Evening at the stadium last September. (Might have those dates wrong way round). Did so much for so many. A selfless man. A huge hole has now been created and will need some big boots to fill it for sure. RIP Al. Another Wanderer taken too soon.
March 26, 20224 yr Chatted to Al at the remembrance do at Astley Bridge in August, thanked him for the work the group did but he was just so humble. It's not about me or the group but looking after the town of Bolton etc. Not many people have my total respect having not met them very often and not knowing them on a personal level but Al did. Can't really speak any higher than that from my personal point of view
March 31, 20224 yr Don’t think i’ve ever met Al unfortunately, although i’m sure our paths have crossed many times. I know Haguey pretty well & he was telling me all about the RG the other week. Sounds like Al was a top fella & totally selfless. Rip
March 31, 20224 yr Popular Post Bolton Wanderers Remembrance Group Joanne Mather · 1h · Dads - Al Mather funeral will take place next Friday the 8th of April. Als main request is for nobody to wear black. Casual wear only or Bolton Wanderers football wear. We will be leaving dad's flat in Bolton at 2.45pm onto overdale crematorium Bolton. The service be will at 3.15pm in the east chapel. We are expecting alot of people there and unfortunately the Chapel is small. We have arranged for speakers outside and it will be streamed for his friends who live around the world and those that cannot sadly make it. We will then be making our way to the vulcan Inn pub, 10 junction Road, Bolton, bl3 4lt to celebrate dad's life. Dad wants a disco/karaoke with no sadness to be had. He would like Ivan to lead the lads to sing a few football songs at his celebration. He also wants everyone to know that he's now at peace, no more pain and back with his grandad Joe, Alan paki parkin, franny and all the other lads We are just having family flowers, any donations you would like to make in memory of my dad you can do so clicking on this link below. The charity we have chosen is the charity my dad set up Bolton Wanderers Remembrance Group. The group helps people in all kinds of way in and around Bolton and right now me and my family during our bereavement in more ways than one I will be forever greatful to them. Thankyou from the bottom of my heart! http://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/allanmather
