Brand Evatt

We had a decent thread a while back discussing Evatt’s philosophies and approach to the game (think it got tainted and pulled)

So not a bad time to start it up again at the beginning of the season.

In the main he’s done a fantastic job. A minority lost patience round about Xmas/New Year in both seasons.

But surely now he has the large backing of the majority of fans and the brand he talked about implementing here is now well and truly established.

Good article above highlighting how he’s using Sport Science to get the squad performing to it’s optimum level.

A young, meticulous, intelligent and passionate individual, who we are very lucky to have leading our club.

I hope he gets what he deserves with promotion to the Championship.

All the analysis and data aside, I just don't get how the board can seriously be sat thinking anything else but that change needs to happen. And if they think that Evatt can be the one to change

So no specifics on timelines then... and no reference to selling the club.

Other than that, you're spot on!

"We have to be real - the three-year plan is [initially] that we're going to do everything that we can to fight to stay up this season," like this one from 2019.

Your point was that we are 5 years into a 3 year plan to get to the Championship and sell the club for a profit wasn't it?

None of your quotes show that. If they have said it, then no issue - but I don't see any evidence that they have!

When she comes out and says if we get to the Chamionship we will need significant funding and additional investment, what do you think that means? I know what that means. It means the BMLL consortium take extra control and or full ownership.

Three year plan from an interview in 2019.. DO THE MATH...we're 5 years in...how many years do we get?

If they only intend to sell if/when we get to the Championship, what's your problem? You're all over the place.

Fair play to him - he's baffled me so much I'm struggling to recall his original point! Could be Donald Trump posing as Zog1

Thing is as well, is the board can be fully behind Evatt as much as they want, but hence my point earlier about football being a business unlike any other, you cannot have a dictatorship over the club or can only for so long, the club has and will always belong to the fans.

If the majority of the fanbase is in a near unanimous disagreement over something then it's only a matter of time.

I don't doubt that the board have some bright entrepreneurial backgrounds in business and ownership and I'm sure they have considered it.

But my point is if this continues then they need to be planning for a potentially massive decrease in season ticket sales come the yearly early bird plan in February which will have huge cost implications.

Sharon mentioned 'progress'. That might have been technically true but to supporters of this club, going from 9th to 3rd in League One in 3 seasons is not good enough.

And this season we are closer to the relegation spots than we are to the top 2 and it is DECEMBER.

They can ignore the fans all they want but it will not last.

My point is that we dont have forever, nobody is happy losing £5 million a year and she seems happy throwing this season away to keep giving IE...4 chances now at League 1. We'd be better off getting someone new in, and letting them have a real good go, there's still plenty of time to get into the automatics.

And if the next fella doesn't get us promoted in his first full season, you'll spit your dummy out again. In fact, you'll probably disagree with the appointment from day one, so you can say "I told you so" when he inevitably gets sacked, like every single manager does eventually apart from those at the very top of the game.

Try selling season tickets in the summer with evatt in charge and another season in league one

Drivel

I'm not a fan of IE because he's not a good manager. It's not personal at all.

The reason im not a fan isnt even his style, which works well against the rubbish teams. It's his lack of flexability, in game management and some recruitment decisions. He treats games like they're one off events on a calendar rather than a dynamic battles between teams.

I think he's getting the worst out of a good albeit not perfect set of players.

I am convinced he is holding us back and has been for some time due to the above.

Who do you want to replace him?

This is just wasting time. Each season BWFC stays in L1 we become less relevant.

The better he makes us, then we play proportionally more 'rubbish' teams.

I agree it's time for a change, but I'd argue he' been a very good manager for this club until April this year. It's gone a bit stale, but If we are nearing the end, i think he can walk away thinking he's done a good job.

As a couple of others have said, I think after a break he will actually come back (possibly at a Championship club) and go on to be more successful over the next few years than us!

Glad he's got the full backing of the board, much clearer marker we're near the end than we've had so far.

Right now we have a very large list of good managers from above. How or even if, we could get them in is a different matter.

But the point I want to make is even if we can't get somebody from a higher league, e.g. Tony Mowbray, Gary O'Neill, Mark Robins, Steven Schumacher. Why does it have to be a household name?

Des Buckingham, John Mousinho and heck Matt Bloomfield have all either got promoted out of this league or/and done a much better job than Evatt has at smaller football clubs with less resources than we have given him. And worth noting that all of them are at least 4-6 years younger than Ian Evatt and had less experience in management.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, but personally I find that Evatt being our only choice or that there's no manager out there available that could get this crop of players higher than 8th in League One to be baffling.

Slaviša jokanović would be a good fit.

It's a classy message from SB & it will be comical to see those who were demanding she spoke , now whining because it's not what they wanted to hear.

I'm just fuming that she didn't send whitesince63 a personal letter first

"I don't know" would have been more succinct. Literally nobody is saying Evatt is the only option, or that no other manager could get us promoted with this squad.

Exactly and Kieran McKenna too. We finished above them in his first half season in charge of Ipswich.

I think our 2-0 win against them at our place was Evatts first try with the 3 at the back.

Since then we're still in League One, Mid table with successive play off defeats, playing the same formation and style that has been found out repeatedly. Meanwhile Ipswich just won at the weekend in the Premier League.

McKenna is younger, had less experience than Evatt and got Ipswich promoted in his first full season.

Sacked from Fulham after going 7 games without a win. Sacked from Sheffield United after only winning 6 from 19. Sacked from Dynamo Moscow 18 months ago and hasn't worked in football since.

So what are you asking or alluding to then?

If you want to know my personal opinion of who I want in charge, anybody who I listed above as well as many countless young promising managers, potentially in Europe that could do a better job.

If I had the time to do a full scout report then I'm sure I could find somebody.
