Brand Evatt

We had a decent thread a while back discussing Evatt’s philosophies and approach to the game (think it got tainted and pulled)

So not a bad time to start it up again at the beginning of the season.

In the main he’s done a fantastic job. A minority lost patience round about Xmas/New Year in both seasons.

But surely now he has the large backing of the majority of fans and the brand he talked about implementing here is now well and truly established.

Good article above highlighting how he’s using Sport Science to get the squad performing to it’s optimum level.

A young, meticulous, intelligent and passionate individual, who we are very lucky to have leading our club.

I hope he gets what he deserves with promotion to the Championship.

All the analysis and data aside, I just don't get how the board can seriously be sat thinking anything else but that change needs to happen. And if they think that Evatt can be the one to change

Wasn't that the heart monitor ITV game versus Leicester? What a game that was for them to pick for the heart monitor

No it wasn't that match, but same result 2-2 I think. The heart monitor one was when that cheating tawt Savage got two of our players sent off and we came back from 2-0 down... Ricketts equalising with a bullet header right near the end. Superb!

What a game to have the managers wired up!

Apologies, you’re right. I’ve spent years convinced that the record crowd was the same game as the heart monitor one.

Same here

Can't see the documentary anywhere but heart monitor game here. Filmed with a potato but still good.

What a fucking game that was

No team should lose when 2-0 against 9 men

Dean had a shocker that day and I include Izzets red in that

Magical. I can still feel the joy of that equaliser!

COYFWM!

I seem to recall the extra two rows would get it to 30,000. If next home game as bad as last two I might do a count up and work it out.

Yes that was the figures.

Just to show what a manager like Sam (but not Sam as his day has been and gone) could bring. Proper battling spirit, brilliant.

Yep.

It was Evatt that stopped starting him.

That seems like a weakening in their relationship- he was still our leading scorer when he benched him.

OK, I get it that some information may be known that the lads don't want to reveal, but I also have been told things, that if true, shed new light on our leader, that aren't pleasant in the slightest.

All sounds a bit fucked really.

I'm seemingly the only person on here who's not ITK. But I can't fathom why Sharon's personal feelings towards our top scorer would be relevant to anything (or her personal feelings for the manager, for that matter).

Dion was still putting a shift in as of the last time he played for us at Rotherham - laid on our goal and should've scored. I've seen nothing to convince me that he wouldn't have continued to score goals for us if he was playing.

Ahead of his time too. Bought pro-zone and the likes to the table.

Squeezed the best out of aging players.

Adapted his play to suit. Tight and compact when he needed and free flowing when not.

A proper manager.

He used all the technology, but didn't lose the human side, and would manage characters and the squad with intelligence and experience.

I remember stories of Youri being surprised when they didn't train at some point between games, and Campo being allowed to pop over to Spain also between games.

Speaking of which, has Campo thrown his hat in? 😁

Campo hasn’t, but Stelio is quietly going about his business.

End of 2003/04 season

Beat wolves so he gave them the day off

Won the next game so gave them two days off

And the next etc

Won 5 in a row before losing on last day v Fulham

Presumably because they'd not been in training all week

It's good to watch this stuff. Makes you realise that

We had some players who could dish it out and take it. Sadly Warhurst and Ricketts wouldn't last 10 minutes these days.

Savage was a right shit.

And maybe a header or two which we never saw under IE with his constant tippy tappy walk it in.

A Blackpool fan asked me if he'd be good for them. I said I've come to the conclusion that he'd be great, just don't give him any money to spend.

Thomason's comments are quite interesting.

Naturally, he says the players needed to take some responsibility.

Then made some remarks that came across as a polite way of saying Evatt needed to go.

Yep - that was my takeaway too.

It's often what they don't say that intrigues me. None of them will come out and be critical. They may need him or his connections down the line in their career. But it'll be interesting to see how many of them come out and publicly thank him over time

Interesting, the video lad (Marcus) was really complimentary about Evatt in a LinkedIn post. He was divisive for sure but definitely had his supporters

the doctor were called dorian dugmore , the first 40 seconds is on youtube along with a thumbnail of topless sam [s]fox[/s] allardyce , presumably to frighten the local children

the episode aired 14th january 2002

Since JD's managed it at the first time of asking, thought it worth a look at Evatt's record in this division when playing away at a ream in the top 4 ...

In 20 matches we managed 2 wins; Barnsley 3-0 when they had a man sent off and 1-0 at Port Vale early last season (they were 4th at the time). In half the games we failed to score. We averaged 0.65 points per game. So ... 10% win ratio.

I'll get back to you when I've worked out Julian's win % 😁

Edit: Correction - it's 2 wins in 19, not 20.

(if anyone's arsed I'll post the full list)

Always remember Bassett bollocking Dennis Wise for doing cross field passes in the doc. Couldn't have picked a better game, it was something else:D

I wonder who's booted him out of the team what's app group?

No way he's left off his own back 😁
