Brand Evatt

We had a decent thread a while back discussing Evatt’s philosophies and approach to the game (think it got tainted and pulled)

So not a bad time to start it up again at the beginning of the season.

In the main he’s done a fantastic job. A minority lost patience round about Xmas/New Year in both seasons.

But surely now he has the large backing of the majority of fans and the brand he talked about implementing here is now well and truly established.

Good article above highlighting how he’s using Sport Science to get the squad performing to it’s optimum level.

A young, meticulous, intelligent and passionate individual, who we are very lucky to have leading our club.

I hope he gets what he deserves with promotion to the Championship.

All the analysis and data aside, I just don't get how the board can seriously be sat thinking anything else but that change needs to happen. And if they think that Evatt can be the one to change

Got to the point where the formation, personnel or tactics are irrelevant.

we’ve had many variations of them all in the games that matter and come out with pretty much nothing from any of them.

there seems to be a fundamental culture issue which runs all the way from the top down. Everyone concerned with being the good guy. It’s like everyone’s happy with finishing on the wrong side of the results as long as we conduct ourselves in a nice, polite and respectful manner.

the amount of times an “unforgivable” performance has repeated itself further down the track with very little accountability has gone beyond worrying now.

we seem to have a chairman who is so heavily invested in the personal element of the manager she can’t / refuses to see what’s blatantly staring her in the face. A Manager who appears to be trying to chuck everyone under the bus in order to deflect from his own misgivings and players so comfortable and lacking in professional pride and desire that one tickle on their whiskers sends them reeling to the canvass

anyone expecting any sudden change whilst that goes on has the whitest tinted spectacles imaginable

Nailed it. I've said before, there is a lot of talk about 'values'. But they don't seem to apply to one person!

Sharon (and others) saved our club. I'm forever grateful as there is a time where Saturday afternoons could have looked very different.

I'm also grateful to Ian Evatt for giving us something to shout about. The last 4 years have been bloody good fun and our crowds are massively up (albeit a tad exxagerated). People in Bolton talk about BWFC again. It's a reflection of the two of them that we have reached this point.

But we're at a crossroads. I'm still, just, inclined to give him time. But i want higher standards from him, and i want him to play his style with his best players.

Nah

Last night and generally this season the ‘performances’ are not like previous seasons.

Results, yes.

But the performances are way off the performances we got at Portsmouth and Derby and others

So who’s been managing these performances then? Someone else and evatt is just there for banter ?

Probably wouldn't be fair to say too much (although conscious just writing it here opens a can of worms).

The incidents involve non playing staff and have been reported through the clubs internal complaints process. There is a feeling, however, that someone is untouchable. Happy to message a mod with full details so they know I'm not just coming on a message board with unsubstantiated info.

You shouldn’t be able to come with any information. Mad how much stuff we seem to leak

Evatt waving his dick at the players this time?

To be fair it probably doesn't help with me posting stuff on here - should probably just bite my tongue rather than contribute to the problem.

There's plenty more I know that I don't say!

I get frustrated with the conflicting messages coming out from the top of the club! I'll keep my gob shut now!

That’s life isn’t it.

It’s not just here, it’s not just football.

The world we live in now, professionals live in glass bowls.

When it’s something we invest so much time, passion, money, energy into if someone has some info to share  I’m interested.

Yeah I don’t blame you just think it’s mad how much gets out. Not your fault at all

I don’t blame you for it and think you are perfectly fine posting it. I just think it’s mad how much does get out. Nothing against you or anyone who gets info at all

He should have left after Oxford. Not simply the game but when, by his own admission, his head went. He wondered if he should quit. He spent a month in a flummox rather than signing new players. Only then did he leave his cave.

If, from then, we'd been solid then fair play ... but we haven't.

We've been extremely average since Pompey away mid December last year. 10 months.

He's now clueless on how to turn it round. That team last night were sent out to nullify the game ... Plan B maybe. Then we let in a goal inside 3 minutes.

His attitude to a Plan B is to passive/aggressively mock people suggesting it. He's not got it in him to turn it round. We've just wasted 2 seasons &, for us, for the level, a lot of money ... but worse, the fans goodwill.

It’s like having issues with a bird. You know deep down time is up but you hang on in the blind hope things will get better without anything actually changing. Eventually it gets that toxic it becomes hatred.

I don’t believe he will leave and be a success. I think this is his ceiling. It’s been a great ride and will continue for some time now but the lad needs a change almost as much as bwfc do

And then apathy, which, imo, is worse than hatred.

And that’s what has happened with a lot of folks, unfortunately.

The plan/set up last night was alright in theory....flood the midfield to take the sting out of B/ham & then bring on our forwards to sucker punch them. The biggest problem was that Matete, Arfield & Sheehan were getting completely outplayed & bipassed when B/ham had the ball & couldn't hold it when we had possession.

My criticisms are that it took too long to change it when it obviously wasn't working (after 3 minutes 🙂 ) & the choice of Charles upfront on his own in a role that makes him ineffective.

B/ham will walk the league so losing isn't a disaster ,an injury to Dempsey could be the bigger damage done with Thomasson already out......Matete & Arfield don't look up to it.

I ain’t having Arfield has more in his locker than Lolos.

if he does then fuck me

He tried fixing a problem. There was general excitement at the signings he made and can’t knock him for doing that,  But it was the wrong problem.

I imagine Arfield's locker to have a pair of old trainers at the bottom stood on top of an old Bolton Evening news, that was already in there.

A coat hanging up that he never wears, on the top is a nearly empty can of Lynx Africa and a couple of illegal vapes.

There is also a tupperware with an apple in but its gone mouldy.

On the front of the locker is a sticker that's peeled off but you can still make out the word  "Sarce", someone has scratched the word wanker under that.

And that I'm afraid is what Arfield has in his locker.

IE thinks that by copy and pasting the tactics etc of better managers he himself is a great manager. He thinks he's discovered a magic winning formular to football and if you disagree you're an idiot.

Nobody was suggesting when they said he needed a plan b that he should totally rework the team, this was a total gaslight by him, most of the fans excluding me just wanted him to change it up against stronger teams, throw in a surprise.

His constant underhanded comments about the players etc are disgusting. Part of me loves that Morley has thrown him being shifted to a club more his level back at him. Wycombe think they've signed the next Xabi Alonso.

In my opinion he’s been told by the board to have a plan B, for me Creaney developed this plan and 2 assistant managers was a board decision, we are losing our identity and style that last night wasn’t an Evatt style performance, and something he’d not put his name too, the plan B & creaney appointment has muddied the waters, it’s a mess that needs clearing up… sadly the wrong man will most likely leave the building and the style Evatt created will be gone and we will replace it with what?  Sad the board and a large trench of our fan base haven’t had the stomach to see it through.

This is some wild mental gymnastics.

It's the manager's team, his plan and his failings.

To try and shift blame on some theoretical power struggle isn't going to cut it.

This squad should be more than good enough for the top six, if not higher.

It should be good enough for the top two because that was the aim and he was backed to make the squad that finished 3rd better

I still think it is when everyone is fully fit

I thought after Huddersfield we were going back to 5-3-2 and it was working

But then we've played bottom and top and tried something else that doesn't get the best out of us

Hoping back to 5-3-2 on Saturday

absolutely horrific that nature allows you both great skills for football and a huge chopper.

Can’t be too sure. Sometimes feels like Santos hasnt actually got a set of bollocks!

Sadly, I know Evatt does 🙃.
