Love his passion for us, and while Allardyce brought the best times, there’s not another manager in my lifetime I’ve preferred having in charge of my club. Completely get that not everyone is of this opinion. Personally, I’ll be gutted when he’s no longer in charge. Getting a bit salty on Bruce Rioch's behalf at the lack of a mention here. Quote

Based on your original quote though, a pedant may point out that Rioch was within your lifetime, though not your memory. Edited October 3 by RoadRunnerFan Quote
wakey Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Rioch, Sam, Greaves in my lifetime in that order. Not that anyone was asking 😁 Quote

The 98-99 probably one of the worst. Obviously not on paper but that squad should of smashed it. Only time I’ve ever booed😂 Quote

Rioch is still my favourite manager but I agree Todd should be spoken of in very high terms. Quote
ianofcleveleys Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Jimmy Arfield was first manager I remember, having started watching the previous season, when we got relegated. Recruited well, coached well, got us back on even keel and upwardly mobile again. Laid foundations for the success of the latter part of that decade. After that, Greaves, Sam, Rioch all put together strong, winning sides with character and personality, as did Todd to be fair. That side of his that got us up had a bit of everything and were a great watch. Sam's side got an honourable mention from Danny Mills in a good feature on Talksport last night on the age-old topic of whether the Prem now has more depth and quality than it did in the 90s and 00s Quote

Outside the prem sides we had the Colin Todd side was the best had it all could beat teams that came to play and could beat teams who wanted to turn it into a war Quote
