Brand Evatt

We had a decent thread a while back discussing Evatt’s philosophies and approach to the game (think it got tainted and pulled)

So not a bad time to start it up again at the beginning of the season.

In the main he’s done a fantastic job. A minority lost patience round about Xmas/New Year in both seasons.

But surely now he has the large backing of the majority of fans and the brand he talked about implementing here is now well and truly established.

Good article above highlighting how he’s using Sport Science to get the squad performing to it’s optimum level.

A young, meticulous, intelligent and passionate individual, who we are very lucky to have leading our club.

I hope he gets what he deserves with promotion to the Championship.

All the analysis and data aside, I just don't get how the board can seriously be sat thinking anything else but that change needs to happen. And if they think that Evatt can be the one to change

Getting a bit salty on Bruce Rioch's behalf at the lack of a mention here.

Maybe @BWFC_LOVE was born after  Rioch’s era or was too young to remember?

Fair point.

Surprising how being an owd bugger can creep up on you unnoticed.

Ricoh still gets my vote. Absolutely loved his teams.

Correct 👍

First proper season was 97/98 for me. I’m 35 if it makes you feel any better 😂

Fair enough pal you are a touch too young as @desperado points out. Though I'm not that much older at 43.

Based on your original quote though, a pedant may point out that Rioch was within your lifetime, though not your memory.

Rioch, Sam, Greaves in my lifetime in that order.

Not that anyone was asking 😁

Colin Todd is vastly underrated.

Agreed. As is Jimmy Armfield; the first manager I remember.

That's league winning is one of the championships/Div 1 best ever teams.

Absolutely unstoppable. Power, pace and strength all over the pitch.

That season was as good as it gets.

His legacy probably tainted by disappointments that came later.

Best season I’ve season. The 98-99 probably one of the worst. Obviously not on paper but that squad should of smashed it. Only time I’ve ever booed😂

That was my favourite season, loved it, loved that side. Rioch is still my favourite manager but I agree Todd should be spoken of in very high terms.

Jimmy Arfield was first manager I remember, having started watching the previous season, when we got relegated. Recruited well, coached well, got us back on even keel and upwardly mobile again. Laid foundations for the success of the latter part of that decade.

After that, Greaves, Sam, Rioch all put together strong, winning sides with character and personality, as did Todd to be fair. That side of his that got us up had a bit of everything and were a great watch.

Sam's side got an honourable mention from Danny Mills in a good feature on Talksport last night on the age-old topic of whether the Prem now has more depth and quality than it did in the 90s and 00s

Outside  the prem sides we had the Colin Todd side was the best had  it all could beat teams that came to play and could beat teams who wanted to turn it into a war

A beautiful combination.

Phrase of the day.

"Toxic Positivity"

Positively toxic.

I'm all for it.

About what was expected in my opinion

you can't stick your head in the face of the opposition

you'd get a red and 3 matche ban if you were a player who did it during a match

so sounds about right to me

Indeed

3 matches

Not got off lightly, about right
