Brand Evatt

We had a decent thread a while back discussing Evatt’s philosophies and approach to the game (think it got tainted and pulled)

So not a bad time to start it up again at the beginning of the season.

In the main he’s done a fantastic job. A minority lost patience round about Xmas/New Year in both seasons.

But surely now he has the large backing of the majority of fans and the brand he talked about implementing here is now well and truly established.

Good article above highlighting how he’s using Sport Science to get the squad performing to it’s optimum level.

A young, meticulous, intelligent and passionate individual, who we are very lucky to have leading our club.

I hope he gets what he deserves with promotion to the Championship.

All the analysis and data aside, I just don't get how the board can seriously be sat thinking anything else but that change needs to happen. And if they think that Evatt can be the one to change

Yep.

McAtee always wants to try something instead of sideways passing. Looks for the early ball and loves running at folk.

Unfortunately our mixed up playing style and chopping the attack means he's rarely going to take a game by the scruff of the neck.

I'd love to see him start and get a proper run in a two up top.

That's the problem though ... I don't think he'll get a run of games in his preferred position for us to see how good he could be. Same thing that's happening with Collins now. Squad rotation players playing in different positions each week.

Same. I like both of em. Wasn’t sure on Schon first couple but I think he’s an asset when we are dictating tempo.

Mcatee. My type of player all day long.

Imo, Williams is better than Schon

Nothing Williams has done at LWB convinces me he’s better than Schon.

However, one game at RWB convinces me he’s better than Cogley.

Think they're all capable of doing a job.

Issue is bigger than the capabilities of individual players for me.

😳

Skim reading this highlights a reason why we are where we are.

We are too reliant on individual skill/talent/level of performance in certain positions the way we play, Evatt never gets more than the some of the parts, generally less in my opinion.

Which lets be honest, is what sorts the good managers from the bad.

Birmingham spent nearly (if not above £20m), they're better than any team i've seen in 3rd Division (this season or last). They'll be promoted for Xmas. They've been beat once, by Charlton (as were we) at the Valley.

Everyone in this league is playing for 2nd spot or play-offs.

We have enough in squad. Injuries apart..

That's a bit like what Iles said on his after game podcast thing, if we accept Birmingham are an outlier then that means everyone is playing for 1 auto promotion space and our chances of getting that must be rated pretty low. We're currently miles and miles off.

I don’t think folks doubt that we have enough in the squad, it’s about the way that they are being used by the manager.

Not sure who I've got for favourites for 2nd.

I'm not buying this our league is weaker this season either.

Pompey we're better than Brum for me.

Just post whatever you want and stick "allegedly" in there

By all means do but be aware that the word doesn't have the magical properties many people believe.

It doesn't nullify clear intent & you can still be sued for libel, defamation, malicious besmirchment and a host of other stuff.

But, hey. Don't let me stop you.

We are all, no doubt, intrigued to know the information.

Apart from the above, would revealing it be of benefit to the club and team?

Unless an unequivocal yes, then maybe leave it. Certainly for the time being.

Maybe pal, but its a long season (as we know) in this league, look at Sunlon

We don’t trott this out though when we lose at home to Exeter. We have spent a decent amount at this level. Can’t have it both ways.

Birmingham are better and as @Greg_BWFCsays losing is fine. They didn’t get out of 2nd gear last night and we’d lost within 3 minutes, which is the tough bit to swallow

Let's have it right, we've spent £2m more or less on two 'strikers' who look a bit flimsy and can't even establish themselves in the team.

They've all been swapped around.

Saying they can't establish themselves isn't their fault.

Also been used in different formations and positions.

It seems clear what Evatt's ideas are with his forwards.

It's not about losing 2-0 away to the league leaders, it's about turning up defeated. About yet more reshuffles, about putting Charles up front alone. About leaving 2 recent £1m forwards on the bench, about players out of position. About confusion, lack of cohesion. ... & lots more.

A one-off 2-0 defea, away,t against the leagues best team is neither here nor there.

It's weaker in that there aren't three sides like Plymouth, Ipswich, Sheff Wed but more competitive in that there 8/9/10 sides behind Brum who are similar level and will take points off each other all season.

There weren't 3 sides like them in there last season either.
