Brand Evatt

We had a decent thread a while back discussing Evatt’s philosophies and approach to the game (think it got tainted and pulled)

So not a bad time to start it up again at the beginning of the season.

In the main he’s done a fantastic job. A minority lost patience round about Xmas/New Year in both seasons.

But surely now he has the large backing of the majority of fans and the brand he talked about implementing here is now well and truly established.

Good article above highlighting how he’s using Sport Science to get the squad performing to it’s optimum level.

A young, meticulous, intelligent and passionate individual, who we are very lucky to have leading our club.

I hope he gets what he deserves with promotion to the Championship.

All the analysis and data aside, I just don't get how the board can seriously be sat thinking anything else but that change needs to happen. And if they think that Evatt can be the one to change

Do none of his chums take training when he’s away? Where’s Atherton, Crainey, Gilkes, etc.

Publically throwing the group - which, without names, is what he’s done - is simply another attempt to deflect blame away from his own failings.

This is turning toxic and needs to be nipped in the bud, immediately.

Time to act, Sharon.

Aye

He's assembled this squad in his vision

He has a style of play and values he wants them to adhere to

(One which GT admitted is complicated)

So why do they not put a shift in when he's not there

And why's he not there

Don't the other coaches demand maximum effort?

All sounds a bit of a mess

But singing about the football that we play, we have had a lot of success over five years, so I find that a bit strange

I'd obviously left long before that point, but can anyone tell me what the words and the tune to this song about the style of football were?

Just for reference like.

What a strange interview.

What a strange series of explanations/excuses.

The players out there are match fit enough. The systems he lays down are the issue. The robotic tippy happy, the slow build-up, the players out of position, the 'system' itself, the tactics, the metronomic substitutions.

Sounds to be they're begging him to stop with the 5 at the back, the wing backs, certainly the 2 in midfield, the 3 up front.

If, the moment he's not there, they don't train 'properly' it's indiscipline &/or they don't actually believe in what they're doing.

They were singing - Your football is shit, your football is shit, Ian Evatt your football is shit.  To the tune of I want to go home.

Look at the team he put out on Saturday ... & who were left out.

Which of those look to the fans not to be pulling their weight &/or be troublemakers ?

Not the first time he's referenced people not pulling their weight in training. That was where all the rumour about some players easing off on days Evatt wasn't there came from.

So we employed another coach to be his voice when he wasn't in.

And then after the last root n branch review following Huddersfield he was supposedly told to be more visible round the club and physically present at training

Damn, was hoping for a more complex analysis turned into a song 😀

Bloke needs to go. Simple as that.

Surely it’s just another nail this?

I’d listen a bit more if it was one or the other.

Poor effort in training.

Or they were ill and couldn’t train properly?

How can it be both? Unless the poor effort/attitude is a long term thing.

If they were ill, surely a better approach would have been to use this as the focal point. At least he could have kept the players together in an attempt to block out the external noise.

Does he not realise that if there’s a longer term issue with effort/attitude then he is very much part of the problem?

No, I don't think he does and that's why we've regressed.

He really is convinced that his ideas/methods are sacrosanct.

I was told (a month ago) 3 players train day in day out in the way you would expect

Only 1 of em played on saturday, 2 others are injured

So good chance it’s 2 of Toal, Dempsey, Thomason. (and I’d be surprised if one of them was a shirker)

And they’re all injured 😂

It’s not stacking up well for him is it pal?

If IE isn't at training and the players aren't trying maybe it's time to get rid of the coaches

Like we did last time

GT, KD and GJ

It's also important to understand that the quotes regarding illness were given to GMR / Wanderers TV post game, whilst the BN interview was a separate one which he gave slightly later (still at the ground).

This makes it more puzzling for me. Having gone down one route (and, to be fair, i believe the illness story - he'd come a cropper just making stuff up), it seems odd to then choose another line in a separate interview.

So why then start referring to players attitudes? Again, I doubt he's making it up, but it seems a little naive to start going off at tangents.

Huge injury list and illness - I have some sympathy for Evatt.

Clearly, however, some cultural issues to address. GJ did an interview where a players meeting was held in the dressing room post game. I'd imagine he was one of those calling other players out. Issues could be related to poor (character) recruitment, players demotivated after Wembley or players out of contract who aren't quite fully invested.

Ultimately, culture (on the playing side) lies with Evatt. He'll know this...

... and today, all that matters, is whether our investors think he is the man to help them get a return on their investment. They decided to stick with him less than 24 hours after Huddersfield, so i imagine we'll know today based on news or silence.

One final note; Craddock absolutely had to go. Clearly, the words this weekend suggest that didn't solve those cultural problems.

I'd have thought he'd be more appreciative of his players given they'd been so dreadfully ill during the week that they'd had to have an IV drip just to get them in a position to play

So since the start of the season he’s called out the fans then deflected issues on to his back room staff which led to a sacking and now he’s shining the light of blame on to (some) players…

and here’s me thinking the manager of a football team sets the standard 🤔

Thinking it Might be that after he did his initial interview GJ then came out and did his about the players only honest conversations

So then he has to acknowledge that

Or maybe half the squad rang in sick and skived off for a few days

I don't know enough to dis/agree with you.

But what's the basis of this ?

Just read Rob Edwards interview at Luton. Couldn’t be more polar opposites to IE’s. Good mates as well I believe.

What do you base the "Craddock absolutely had to go" on? I'm not disagreeing, i don't have any knowledge of what each of the coaches does tbh
