Why do we need to show compassion to people that have paid thousands to smuggling gangs to get to our shores for the sole purpose of living for free in nice accommodation, fed, watered and given money?

Again you're peddling this mad narrative that these a desperate people.

Instead of standing in the sea waiting for a blow up boat they could get on easy jet a buy a flight for a ton.

Why do you think they don't just do that then?

You tell me :)

Maybe passports and visa applications might have something to do with it.

Could they not just dump them in a bin after they've landed, like they throw their documents in the sea when they reach Dover in a dinghy?

Went on that years ago as a kid.

Some chap in military garb came and told us all to do one.

Pretty much every one who was a kid in the Krypton Factor days from round here has been on it once usually snuck in.

The contents of the bin are easily recoverable

Chucking them in the sea less so

There is talk of an HMO in our village, utter uproar, as we don't even let brown people live here, never mind unsavoury refugee types :)

There was a petition sent around, and a little protest at the Parish Council meeting a few weeks ago, apparently. No way are the old duffers in this village allowing that to happen.

Sympathies pal. I do hope you get them to improve local diversity.

You need to factor in a stupidity quotient when dealing with fromage face.

They probably could do aye. Be a nightmare for passport control though. They'd have to face angry Brits with screaming children after a flight though.

It'd be warfare.

Plus there's no way they're paying £8 a pint at the airport.

We went as a family with my dad, and my uncle!

Don't remember "sneaking in" as such- the olds wouldn't have done owt like that.

Can remember anything about it, other than a burly bloke in fatigues saying "get off".

If you know exactly which bin to look in and the contents haven't already been sent to landfill, yes.

Given that they've just landed the chances of the bin being in landfill are somewhere between none and fuck all

Ok then, lets say they get a legitimate flight here on a tourist visa (as per Gonzo's question), then burn all their documents and eat the ashes.

Ashes cannot be digsted, so you lock em up until they've had a crap (in the manner of suspected drug mules), sift the ashes from the shite and reconstruct the document. Probably using AI, but I haven't thought that bit through yet.

They jumped on a train to Bolton within an hour of arrival, to work in the back of a Kebab shop. Nobody is looking for them as they're simply a tourist until their Visa expires.

could they not just eat their passports as soon as they land, no recovering then. Although the fact they were scanned before boarding might scupper the plan anyway

Does your postman have a black and white cat in his van?

No, but he does always seem to be smoking a huge joint whenever I see him

There are 7 Indian families around here and they are, as you say, all lovely. No stuffed pork rolls close by but they have a cracking club down here with some mind bending beers at around 9% ABV.
