I’m guessing you’re rich because that’s who they said they were going to take the tax from. How do you define rich? I'd like to think most people would be happy to pay an extra 1p in the £ to try and get the country back on track. We have to pay back all that furlough money that was sponged away a few years ago (I heard the other day it was up to £70B) Edited September 30 by Sweep Quote

Ask all those who have been saying ‘tax the rich’ for years. The last government were criticised for hiking taxes more than any other and now people are saying ‘tax me more’ it’s crazy. On the government hand outs during COVID, some said it was too much , some said it wasn’t enough🤷♂️ Hence the borrowing went through the roof. It’s going to go much higher very soon. Quote
BobyBrno Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Just to emphasise my totally neutral or subversive nature, a tweet by our chancellor just a few months ago. Yes, let’s all pay more tax. Quote

Dimron Posted September 30 Posted September 30 So us pensioners have just chucked £500 into the pot...what if everyone else did the same ? Quote

Sweep Posted September 30 Posted September 30 What's a "middle income" deemed as these days? Anyway, I guess we'll find out soon enough, and if we don't like it we've only got to wait for five more years and then we can vote them out. Quote

Reduce income to 20% tax bracket and anything above gets paid in at full whack into the pension pot. Edited September 30 by Mounts Kipper Quote

Site Supporter Winchester White Posted September 30 Site Supporter Posted September 30 I heard the other day that 25% of pensioners are living in houses worth over a million £. Now don't get me wrong, with the house price inflation (that somehow weird middle class people seem to love) that is no longer a massive amount. But, that means to me we shouldn't be paying 300 quid to someone living in a house worth ee times the average salary for someone trying to get by Quote

We can talk about the government during those next 4 years 9 months though. We talked about the Tory government for 14 years and chucked in Brexit in between. Quote

We’ve discussed it many, many times. We used to use Mick Jagger as an example. What about the other 75%? The ones that Labour themselves said in 2017 would freeze to death if the wfa was removed.
