Another great one gone. I remember a match at Blackpool around 1970 when he took down a Blackpool player with only the keeper to beat. 
A few days later, on the Burnden forecourt, I met him with other fans as he was going in before a match. A very well known Bolton lad at the time said ‘it was never a foul Charlie, never’ I can still see the big smile on his face.

Weird that. I watched a pre-recorded interview on BBC News early this morning with Tony Schumacher, the writer of a BBC TV drama about the police in Liverpool (never watched it), and they talked about Bernard Hill because he appears in it. They even showed a montage of his previous roles.

Edit: Found it. Listening to it back, it sounds like they're talking about him dying, but they definitely weren't as his death was only announced a few hours later, and the interview was about the new series of the police drama.
