  1. League cup tie at home to Fulham in 70s. Who scored about 10mins into injury time to equalise for us? Where was the replay held and what was score?
  2. Was only 9 at the time - sat in main stand nr what was supposed to be Blackburn end. Must have been on TV? Oh for a you tube clip! Pity was pre Roadrunner.
  3. Memories not the results for me. Boxin day aways in 80s/90s. Drawing 1-1 at Southend. Losing at Orient. 0-0 at Hartepool (coldest day ever). Never to be seen again. Mind you, Munich wasn't bad either.
  4. Lucky. CD has to start now - KD time has sadly run out. Smoke bomb was the highlight.
  5. First game of season for me - played well (fullbacks aside) albeit against poor opposition. Dont know what all the fuss has been about.............season starts here?
  6. Where to start, but thats been the fun of it A few spring to mind........... QPR 7 Wanderers 1 Sheff Utd 4 Wanderes 0 (Peter Barnes & Phil Neal dust up) Wanderers 1 Bristol City 4 (Warren Joyce "there's only one player trying") but the low point of last 30 years has to be... Wanderers 0 Darlington 3 (that Bonfire night)
  7. 'Ere we go again. Still think Hiero was the iconic player for us from the Big Sam era. To think what stages the guy played on, and even at 37-38 he could pass a ball like no other. Back to reality.......
  8. If you want to be completely disrepectful to a guy who has been a loyal, outstanding performer for >10 years then I think you should. I agree with you its time for a change, and suspect OC knows that as well, but there are ways of doing it (so put your fishing rod away).
  9. As good as OC has been for us and will be for us, I wish he would not keep playing people out of position. He's not doing himself any favours at present. Without our best (only) 2 creative midfielders in MD & SH then why does he insit on trying to plug the gap with players who may be OK in other positions but are NOT central midfielders?? Elmo gets far too much stick at present - not his fault he has no positional/tactical sense where he's asked to play. Couldnt believe second half when we went in effect from 4-1-5 formation to 4-0-6 when he took the only recognised mildfieder of at HT!! Absolutely no link up play beteen front and back. Nothing against Ricky and Elmo but fish out of water in the middle. Would much rather have seen Cohen and one from the reserves in there. Roll on next season...............
  10. Ruth Cranshaw, Alf Davies & the one and only Alan Gowling? Th'opposition............Wolves?
  11. Another one (after every heavy defeat) has to be "we'll take our medicine"
  12. Went to the two away matches. Fantastic followings both nights - shows how much more cup matches meant then. Typical BWFC though - a glorious defeat in the end. Pretty sure Phil Neal played in the 4th game as we were so short of numbers.
  13. Such sad news. Thankls you for everything you did for Bolton and BWFC - it meant so much to so many people. RIP.
  14. Surely no one is surprised? An absolute stich up months ago. Normally wouldnt given our press the time of day, but right behind them on this one. If the "no" votes for us were because of FIFA fears over what our press might do if we had been awarded 2018, then I feel they are sadly mistaken - I hope its nothing in comparison to the scrutiny they will now be put under to expose the truths behing their shady operation and publically nail as many of the hypocrites as possible. We'll never get the World Cup in my lifetime now, so nothing to lose!
  15. Also there that night - Burnden Terrace. 25 years though - where did they go? Definitely the low point - absolutely awful (although Aldershot home 2-2 comes close with relegation to the 4th, plus a Bristol City home night match where we lost 4-1 I think - "one player trying" was the chant - Warren Joyce). Those were the days though
  16. Has to be Robbie Savage, Wrexham away in the 4th division. Cracking day out as well. Stopped the slide into oblivion & we've never looked back after that!
  17. Having a sort out and came across my first Wanderers scarf c. 1976. The third badge down wasnt quite as I remembered it - surprised the Happy Shop didnt spot the flaw (or perhaps they did). Just wouldnt happen these days would it? Anyone else got any naff memorabilia hidden away???
  18. For me its not necessarily about staying up or relegation - Megson would probably have kept us up. What OC will bring though is ENTERTAINMENT (long since forgotten). A 250mile round trip will start and seem worth it again after the tedious drivel of the last 2-3 years (I could count the number of good games on one hand). Best news in a long time and I hope/expect the manager/team/club will now get passionate support again, regardless of results! Cant wait!
  19. Not sure if SNL is on a fishing trip, however I think the squad is definitely better now than it was two years ago, and certainly more than capable of staying in the premier league, and for that I thank him also! But for nothing else. Into my 35th year of watching and I can safely say he also created the most poisonous atmosphere ever to have been present at this (or any?) club. If his "relationship building skills" with the fans reflected his man-management skills with the players then its a wonder he lasted this long. I conceded his treatment of late however was appalling although largely self-inflicted. The events of this morning were inevitable, and for many several months too late. Just hope whoever comes in can get everyone going in the same direction again (imperative for a club our size) - if they can we will be fine! COYWM. (PS - self-imposed exile also over - back for the Arsenal game).
  20. Awful. A complete waste of 90mins of my life. Wrong selection, wrong (no?) tactics - a complete embarrassment. We're in BIG trouble and no point denying it. The odd good game doesnt make up for the fact that, on the whole, the quality and entertainment this season has been abysmal. Still think we have the players/squad to keep clear - cant say the same about the manager though..........
  21. Tea leaves makes riveting viewing - unlike the trash served up at moment. Anyway - dont want/intend winding anyone else up on this - I'll shut up and see what happens over next few weeks - I would love to be proved wrong - honest!!
  22. Wow - I'll say one thing Megson has united us in - every single thread running now descends into a rant on his (short-term) future Proves the point that the guy has to go!!!! Only been to the Sunderland game this year and after a 250mile round trip I too have sadly joined the boycott campaign and wont step foot over t'threshold again until he's gone. Not worth wasting more time/money until then watching inept, defensive, negative, boring tactics - and that hurts to say. The sign of a good manager is to get a team playing at a level greater than the sum of the parts - this guy achieves the opposite.
  23. Been watching Wanderers since '76 and after reading WW for several years now feel compelled to write for the first time. This thread sums up perfectly where Megson has taken the club in the last 2 years - for sure we may still be hanging on to Premership status but that counts for nothing given the "civil war" he has managed to create. I've never known/seen/heard any club that is now in our position. Loyal supporters are torn between blind eternal faith for the club and the desire for short-term failure to trigger a change of manager. Its an absolute tragedy to see the position we are now in. Whichever side of the divide we're at there surely can be only one place this will end. Megson has to go sooner or later regardless of results on the pitch - these alone can no longer bring unity. The wounds between club and the majority of fans cannot be healed until this happens. Whether this means relegation or not is no longer the point. The one thing I've always treasured about following the whites has been the passion and unity - these have now gone but I'm sure can and will soon return when he goes. His interviews on SSN and BBC were nothing short of an absolute disgrace. And no, I'm not a fickle fan - Darlington home and Orient/Southend Boxing Day trips are on the CV.
