  3. No love for the Mickey Mousers but if it upsets the DMB's then it's a yes from me ,although if I was a pinkie I'd keep quiet about this the points gulf is embarrassing it looks like they started on a minus.
  4. Nobody new these waters better than Hillcroft !
  5. The season hasn't happened and should have been scrubbed abandoned like a match would be and all go again when safe same rule across the board.
  6. It was brilliant in those days how players of that calibre used to drop down from the top flight and keep their careers going, the romantic in me as always thought it was because they loved the game but I suppose finance comes into it , anyway top full back RIP
  7. Aye remember him with flowing blonde locks RIP
  8. Used to be a beltin clothes shop in Clitheroe, it may have had links to the scooter and mod festival they hold there I got a shirt from Merc of London off him absolute quality.
  9. Yes mate hindsights wonderful suspect my 20 min checks got slightly longer as the night and alcohol were on , never thought we were bad parents though
  10. Worked on Burnden back in the day, I was building toilet blocks in the Burnden stand it was pre season and the players were using the gym and 5 a side pitch at the back, I went down to get some concrete block and Patterson was waiting to go on the pitch as he waited he was belting a ball up at the old corrugated cladding which was already in a bad state, it was cooking hot and I was a bit pissed off lugging these blocks around and his actions annoyed me so I told him to stop it he got a bit stroppy but I was a little older than him and a lot bigger than him and he backed down sharpish when I faced him up.
  11. Was on holiday in Majorca when my youngest lad was a new baby (he's 28 now) and to say he was a pain in the arse was an understatement, hard work all day at night I used to put him in his cot in this chalet style thing we was staying in and his mum brother and I went in a little bar literally 50 yards away, I used to jog back every 20 mins or so and check on him never once gave it a thought that we'd done anything remotely risky until this case and then you count your blessings and obviously wouldn't recommend anyone doing it now .
  12. First right back I saw in the white shirt super super Cooper RIP
  13. No I haven't been that way for a while might head down there this afternoon walk along the river .
  14. Found some wild garlic on a walk down eagley brook seen it all over the lake district and Derbyshire but not in Bolton before, bunged it in with some mushrooms very nice .
  15. Spot on mate Prince Bill was Boddies and a fine pint it was back in the day nothing like the stuff they pass off as Boddingtons now was pulled through a strange sort of glass pump sat on the bar, I suspect you and I will have crossed paths in some of those establishments.
  16. Thought I'd have a butcher's at how many of those pubs I'd been and to my surprise it turned out to be them all .Fuck me ! Particularly remember the ones on and around Great Moor St getting smashed up when we played Wolves that year they went up bedlam.
  17. Hi pal thanks for the enquiry no I try and avoid pointing and travelling to far if possible cheers
  18. Lest we forget! My dad did his bit with Bomber Command flew with the Canadian airforce as a flight engineer based at Linton on Ouse did 34 ops towards the end of the conflict, then flew on Liberators repatriating the troops from Libya he never spoke much about it and as I was doing my own thing as a teenager we weren't all that close and then the big C got him at 52 ,my old mums way of dealing with her grief was to sling everything of my dads away medals and his possessions from the war the lot, luckily I salvaged his flight log book and have been able to trace his wartime career through it.It was weird going into the memorial room at RAF Linton and seeing a photo of him with his squadron in front of an Halifax bomber makes me very proud.
  19. Probably be the last significant anniversary when their are still some of the old boys kicking around , I think days like this are for them, always thought I wouldn't have minded being involved not saying I wouldn't have been scared but very exciting time to be alive.
  20. Good people,hopefully they'll get their reward.
  21. Just remembered the story of when we played Liverpool in the league cup at Burnden ,if it's true JB was meant to have wound Tommy Smith up so much that he refused to get on the team coach after the game and instead hung around in the shadows waiting to sort JB out.Dont know if its folklore or not but always sounded feasible.
  22. Tommy Lawton didn't attend Castle Hill mate ,I think he was born and lived in Castleton St facing the school football pitch but he went to Folds Rd school.
  23. This is a long shot but here goes, I'm a bricklayer with years of experience currently sat twiddling my thumbs at home due to lockdown. I work alone usually building domestic extensions and would have no problem working at the moment but unfortunately can't get any materials if by any remote chance someone is out there with a pile of bricks waiting to be used then I'm your man, if not I'm here for future reference. 😎
  24. I'll never forget the scenes on the pitch at the end as the Blackburn lot sneaked off home, remember us travelling home through Tockholes thinking those pubs along that way might be less busy but each one was rammed full of Wanderers best night ever .
  25. Great stuff would be great to meet up after all these years we were close mates as kids but the mileage sort of comes into play, remember both those incidents it was me who spotted the forest fan with the knife and I was shouting at your kid warning him to back but would he listen?!
