theyre all growing individually and collectively and they’ll all get there 

obviously promotion is a good thing and the board and Evatt would act accordingly but I still think the club needs another season or so to set better more longer term foundations right across the board

as Gonzo says, we’re nearly there. But not quite. Ipswich will be fine up there and look at the difference between us a few weeks back. And they’re targeting players like Adam Armstrong. We could just about afford Louis

Shoretire, Mbete, Beck etc show finding loans is not easy and we need some good ones to get out this league

building a squad in general isn't easy with our resources, it will be hard to get a settled squad with turnover of short deals and loans

But you attract better players in the championship 

We may never be ready to build a squad capable of getting promoted and staying up on our budget 

But you have to get up to stay up 

So the sooner it happens the better for me

This squad may not be ready to go up, but as everyone mentions we need a rebuild anyway and it will be easier to attact the right type of player if we are in the championship than not. Plus with less teams playing the way of the Accys, Morecombes,  etc then Evatts style may have more success so not sure I buy the reluctance to go up this season. 

But Evatt knows what we are missing for those games, he mentions it in the video. A target man for deep crosses, I understand it is against his philosophy but we need an option to unlock teams like last night. Trying the same thing with different but shitter players is getting us nowhere. 

Jerome can just fuck off, he is long past it and offers nothing, except some world class pointing. Dan is strong but has little idea what to do with the ball and Adeboyejo just doesn't seem to have a clue what position to play in. Charles as the first striker off each game is also baffling, he is by far the best chance we have of scoring so as soon as he is off we are on the back foot.

Morely is also well off it at the moment,  couple of times last night he gave it to John who was begging for him to overlap and create space or offer a good crossing opportunity and he just stood there, thumb up his ass and not even offering a good return option.  It is basic stuff and means the ball just goes backwards and sideways again.

Last night was painful.

The linesman on the West side didn't put his flag up for the most blatant of fouls right in front of his nose, repeatedly.  The ref was also the weakest I've seen this season.  That said, we didn't lose because of them.  We had three golden chances to score and none were taken.

Thought Nlundulu was an improvement on Victor, but that's hardly a compliment.  He seems to have more to his game and there's some talent in there, he just needs to work on decision making.  Victor though, oh dear.  I'm really struggling to find a positive to his game but so far haven't found one.  Seems to have no pace, for a man of his size no strength, doesn't jump for headers and has a first touch like Donaldson.

Each of the substitutions last night seemed to make us weaker.

On the evidence so far we'd have been better off keeping Bakayoko and not signing one of Jerome or Victor.

Really hope JDB can find his way to some fitness for the play-off games.

 

 

Thing is, if we go up we won't be playing shithouse low end of league one teams that just sit back against us frustrating us and hope to nick a goal on the break, our game is much more suited against other teams that try to attack, same goes for the play-offs.

hoping we limp over the line, get in the play-offs then have most of our players back and give it a good go.

If we struggle against shithouse teams who don’t play attacking football but just sit behind the ball, let’s 100% try and get out of the league that contains a larger proportion of shithouse teams who don’t play attacking football.

That's a really good summary, yes he has "something" - skill, workrate, energy etc - but ask him to pass it 10 yards or get a shot in and its like he hasn't played before.  I lost a bit of faith in him as a striker when the space opened up in the 1st half, he was about 20 yards out and you'd think he'd be desperate to make a name for himself and have a pop given no other opportunities were coming.  He just turned into trouble and he didn't get another sniff.

I think he means we can get promoted, then spend the summer getting ready and January transfer windows adapting accordingly

This approach has worked so far, no reason why it wouldn't again if we went up

No team is ready to go up. That's why they're in the division they're in.

If he hadnt of got injured we would have been fighting for automatic promotion now. He would have berried many of the chances we have been missing.

Of the “strikers” we currently have only Dion and Vic (because we’ve no choice) should be kept, all the others should be gone including Jerome who although on an 18 month contract could easily be allowed to find another club. As for promotion, of course we should go up if we can, we do have players who can compete there and I’d rather be in there fighting to stay up and building than fannying about in L1 for another year or so.

The usual IE January signings haven’t worked this Tim and tbh it isn’t going to work everytime as it is a gamble. 

Not 1 of the signings as worked and hopefully IE sees this and acts accordingly but I read somewhere he rates both Dan and Vic and with a pre season they would improve.
