Accrington Stanley (H)

The crucial game in hand.

Win on Saturday then this is an opportunity we need to not let slip.

3-1, Dion to finally get a couple against his old club & hammer a huge nail in the coffin and help shift Accy back into League 2. Andy Holt will be livid.

  • We are coming to the end of a long hard season with a paper thin sqaud.  Two main centre backs out injured and we just look knackered across the park.  The daft thing is, like BC says above

If we win which virtually condemns them, aligned to the fact we came from 2 down to beat them earlier in the season and again to get to Wembley, I'll consider them trampled on our way back. Still

Love Evatt, but for a man who fancies himself as a deep thinker when it comes to football, the 'spunk every attacker onto the pitch' tactic is baffling.

A tiring Dion Charles has more chance of finding a goal than the rest of our forwards combined.

And Dion Charles has been shit recently

2 out of our last 3 home games, we've got 1 point against 2 teams I expect to be in L2 next season.

While results show we deserve to be in the top 6, no side who is good enough or close to be good enough drops points against them 2 at home. Wouldn't be surprised if the top 4 have doubled then both.

When you miss chances like Charles & Sheehan did, you're asking for trouble.

Nice of their centre half to think he was on his wedding night though. Couldn't believe how many times he was cuddling and undressing Nlundulu in that 1st half. Blind pew was obviously too embarrassed to watch and give us a decision

I don't. Next season should be his 3rd and final attempt to get Bolton out of the 3rd Division. If he isn't chasing automatic promotion in October I would get rid then for a more experienced manger who has a 3rd tier promotion on his CV

He is young, a good talker and "sexy" and so was Dougie Freedman

Nonsense

We aren’t anywhere near going up and I for one am perfectly content with that. On our day we can turn over anyone but so can everyone else in this league. But as I said last night we’re so process driven if one or two components don’t work it all falls apart. There’s no guile, no individual ability to beat a man. Not to look back but it’s exactly those type of games Dapo shone in. Just look at the game at their place.

I’m sure he already has plans in place but it’s (another) big summer for Evatt. Our 2 probable best players are off back to their clubs and considering how right hand side heavy we are going forward he needs to find another solution. You can’t replace Bradley like for like so it needs to be an adjustment tactically.

we look absolutely blunt at the minute. Adeboyejo either gets up to speed quickly or we need to play to his strengths (whatever they are). We need some creativity. Not sure where you fit it in as his formation and that midfield 3 look pretty fixed but it needs to be found somewhere.

Ipswich sub striker has 16 goals this season. Our front 4 of Jerome / Dan / Adeboyejo and Shoretire have 3 between them since Jan.

everyone can see the problems

I worry for the summer. January was horrendous. We need to ship out Jerome / Dan / adeboyejo. They don’t work the way evatt plays. Apart from this season at burton his stats are shocking. He is not the answer if we are to going up.

I am ok with not going up but we will lose players and be even further off promotion come august than we are now.

I'm a big admirer of Evat but I didn't understand the decision to bring Ade on for John and move Shoretire to LWB

We lose our best crosser in favour of a right-footed midfielder who naturally cuts inside into a congested middle of the pitch

Major overhaul in the summer regardless which division we’re in

all the forwards need shipping out except Charles who himself although is our top scorer needs to improve in areas

saying that vic is tied into a deal isn’t he just like R Williams?

shock horror, yet again another shithouse team do a number on us. So disappointing not to get the job done last night. Will end up needing a win at Bristol now.

Credit to MJ last night, he had loads of the ball and loads of space to carry it, unfortunately just a load of shit players in front of him that kept passing it back to him.

We know who we are losing but we don’t know what’s coming through the door. Evatt isn’t daft, he’ll know where we are short.

He does need to watch how the top 4 put shit teams to the sword though. We’ve taken 12 points from the 24 available against the current bottom 4. There’s our problem

Even Charles who's been our best scorer for years has missed so many chances he's not even clinical himself.

That touch yesterday when he was through on goal was awful.

Saying that, he's our best chance of scoring a goal and in our last 4/5 games where we've struggled to score or put the opposition to bed, he's brought off everytime.

This with big fucking bells on

We loose Traf and Bradley anyway, id rather it ge in Lg1. Look at Wigan, pissed it last season, "strengthened" and still no were near good enough.

I'll give Shoretire a fiver so he can get the bus home.

The daft thing is, like BC says above I still fancy us to turn anyone over on our day.

Theres a rebuild coming in the summer, Id rather do that in this division and make a proper fist of going up rather have wank season like Blackpool and Wigan.

We arent ready yet, not far off, but not yet.

Every team in the league is susceptible to nights like that last night. It happens.

And not many points from the top teams either.

Freedman wasn't sexy

And he had absolutely nothing to back up his notion he knew what he was talking about

At least Evatt has promotions and trophies to back up what he's saying

They are both young though, will give you that

So is Jerome. Signed 18 months

Ultimately our forward 4 of Charles Vic Jerome and JDB (who will prob re sign) aren’t going anywhere. The only space we need to improve is Kacha. I know he’s been mentioned many times before but an Alfie May would not go a miss. We need a diminutive / in little spaces type player

4 points should be enough to be above Peterborough on goal difference unless they win their last two by big margins

That said

After last night 4 points looks a big ask

I'd much rather sneak up in the play offs and have a crack at putting together a squad to try and stay up than improve this one to try and get up

I was amazed the Kieran Lee didn't come on last night, especially considering he brought Shoretire on. Sooner he's packed back off to Manchester the better.

I still think we'll make the playoffs, not much faith in us getting past the semi final let alone going up.

The substitutions offered very little last night, and Evatt desperately needs to come up with a plan B for games like that.

Opinions isn’t it but there’s no way I’d want this current squad going up factoring in the number of players we’re going to lose / let go and the current impact they have on the side

this club has been through far too many dark seasons recently and I could only anticipate another one. Our budget is average in L1 we’d be a tadpole in an ocean trying to attract the required level needed to give it a legitimate go

as Gonzo says, we’re nearly there. But not quite. Ipswich will be fine up there and look at the difference between us a few weeks back. And they’re targeting players like Adam Armstrong. We could just about afford Louis

This. 👍

Surprised no one has mentioned Dapo (or the lack of him)

A big reason we can't unlock teams like this. Great business for the club, but it's another Dapo-esque type player we need.

On the face of it we can probably count on 1 hand the amount of times we have actually turned up for a large part of the game.

we have had good spells (15 minutes or so), but unlike the top 4 we haven’t been playing teams off the park.

we can’t cope with the ta tics of teams near the bottom, we have struggled against top sides and therefore in reality, if we did go up it could well be a long hard season.

look at Wigan and Rotherham and also forest green in our league.

We have missed 5 1 v 1s in the last 2 matches and scored 6 in the last 7.

not really promotion form.

as much as I want us to get in the play offs and get promoted, are we really ready ………

Oh and before I forget, corners. Fuck me, corners.

A professional footballer with time and a dead ball and fuck all  else to do other than practice all week should be getting the ball into the danger area 9 times out of 10. If not you need kicking in the nads

We're fucking shite at them, Sheehan especially so

Best corner taker in the club is Declan John by a country mile and he rarely gets a sniff.

Sick of fans saying we aren’t ready to go up. That’s the job of the manager and the board pre season to make sure we are ready. That’s why we have transfer windows.
