MJ doesn’t shore up the midfield, he’s too slow and becomes a liability - I know he’s bigger than the other 3 but he’s far more of a risk, I’d rather put Thomason there and that says something. Lee’s a funny one, I’m a huge fan of his and when he’s on his game he’s a class above, but we haven’t seen it for a while and I’m not sure I’d be wanting to drop Dempsey back to let Lee play as the furthest advanced midfielder. Same midfield for me, albeit that’s based on how they can play, not how they did play on Saturday.

Agree with the change up top though - I’d like to see Vic given a go and see if he can finally show us what he can do when it really counts. JDB and Charles would be the real winner but you can’t just throw him into this game after all that time out.

2 changes for me - John for Williams and Vic for Kachunga.

Dempsey is one who defo starts for me on Friday, prefer him bursting through from deep and if MJ holds it’ll give Dempsey more freedom to bomb on and create havoc, if Dempsey can do that then it’s key to us getting that victory.

Tactically Evatt has got a lot to think about for this one. If anything we’re lucky not be behind and can rethink and reset. There were times I thought we could have cut through them but for some sloppy/nervous passing in the final third.

definitely need some physicality up top for this one. COYWM

Seen more than enough from Vic thanks. Come back for pre-season and he can have another chance, but on current form we might as well play with 10 men.

The Wembley team (with Johnston in for Jones) is our best team. It's not without issues but I don't think we currently have the personnel to solve them.

Midfield is tricky I’d say MJ or Thomason if we had a lead but they slow the game and create very little for me

See, Thomason is one that speeds it up for me.

I remember the Cambridge game- he was shouting and gesticulating at team mates and telling them to speed it up.

Getting into the opposition too.

Sheehan doesn't do this, but may benefit from someone who does.

Thomason was good at Burton as well and has more energy getting box to box. I would start him with Dan replacing Kachunga

The midfield three should stay the same. It's our best three. I don't think there was a lack of protection on Saturday. Barnsley didn't really have anything down the middle. They are a get it wide get in the box team. I think it's LWB and who partners Dion, that's the two places up for grabs and there are pros and cons with all the options

I think my best 11 is similar to the general consensus.

Obvious and glaring change is John for Williams on the left.

I think MJ is OK in the middle but would swap him out for Sheehan or Lee. I wouldn't be disappointed if Tommo got picked either.

Up front Kacha has had about two good games this year and he did nothing again in the home leg. So he can drop out for Vic or Dan up front. Dan seems to have some potential.

Usually picks Kachunga due his to pressing and “intelligence” Lee is smarter and much more effective in the press. He wouldn’t let Connell have the influence he did for a start.

therefore Demps and Morley behind Lee with Charles and Dan up top.

Still get a very good structure, more intelligent footballer involved and a bigger threat up top

I think Randell Williams is absolutely gash, but with the size of their team (set pieces, long throws etc) I think he gets the nod based on height as much as anything else

He's definitely not "absolutely gash".

Just now, Lt. Aldo Raine said:

I think I'd be tempted to start Kachunga again as I think his pressing will be useful against what I expect will be a Barnsley more willing to have posession

It isn't as though the alternatives have staked very much of a claim either

With Lee you still get that press but you also get a better focal point and it sticks better with someone else alongside Charles

When Williams backs himself going forward, there are genuine glimpses of a player there. And being able to play on either side could turn out to be a huge positive at some point. But overall there’s no chance I’d be picking him ahead of DJ.

Aye, pretty sure I've mentioned it before, but I work with quite a few Hull fans, and I asked their opinion as soon as we signed him. They said he was far better on the right, but he's obviously not getting in ahead of Bradley.

Problem is we never got the ball forward or many crosses in the box to ask questions of the Barnsley defence on Saturday. The time we got a cross in we scored. RW doesn’t take defenders on he should be getting to the bye line to get the crosses in instead he came back inside then passed the ball square to someone else. For me DJ is better going forward and getting the crossed in.

The interesting thing with Williams is that despite being left footed his best position at his previous clubs was on the right

I think it's probably unlikely he gets much of a run in that position under Evatt but is probably something to bear in mind when considering whether he's any good or not
