The Managerial Roundabout

Shrewsbury potting Cotterill is an odd one,

Spurs possibly seeking a new manager around Christmas, not sure how he will do.

Gerrard to Leeds is rumoured.

Uri Geller to Wigan?

I know he’s not a manager but Standard Liege fans seem gutted we’ve got Fergal Harkin to the extent that some are saying he saved them from relegation despite having no budget. Sounds positive.

  • Are you serious? The guy brought us some fucking brilliant moments  that we’ll never forget. Yeah, it didn’t end up great but ffs.

Another Leicester if they do not get Automatic promotion next season

Teams now playing Russian Roulette

top managers consistetly win things, that's basically it

arteta's teams keep throwing away great opportunities, and that's why they are seen as bottlers

pep might not always win titles, but he's won everything over and over again at 3 different clubs

it's like saying you can't judge ferguson because he only ever won things with utd, but sometimes didn't win things

as you say, they may yet walk away with a title and the CL, but we've been here before with them

I'd argue what he did with Aberdeen was as impressive. Other than his stint in charge, your going back over 60 years since its been other than Old Firm*

Yep, one of the most obvious things ever for them innit.

Fair point though it's also Scotland so doesn't count

It's a league where Gerrard was invincible

Not with Aberdeen or Dundee United, he wasn’t. Much easier with Rangers or Celtic.

No surprises about Scotg Parker though, tbh, I never got why he had the job in the first place.

It'd be good to see an ownership one day say "he was on a hiding to nothing but he did all he could & we're sticking with him".

His record of getting clubs promoted from the championship probably played a part

Parker's Burnley's defence was genuinely astonishing in the Championship.

Then this year they have the worst defence in the PL!

And he "rocks" a cardigan.

Its one of those though, how much was it down to him and how much would those clubs have gone up anyway?  Fairly sure every promotion was helped by parachute payments and/or having a shit hot squad for the championship - Fulham, Bournemouth, Burnley.

It would be interesting to see him manage a "normal" club like a Bristol City or Millwall or come down to L1 and manage Barnsley etc.

True but his CV says promoted three teams at the first point of asking

Getting  Burnley up with 100 points and not concede more than one goal in a match suggests he has something about him

Might have been awful to watch and the prem is a step too far but you can't knock records like that

It would be interesting to see Pep manage Grimsby and see how he gets on but we won't

Also says a lot about James Trafford

Eric still leaves Watford after 3 wins in 15 games.

The 35-year-old Belgian was appointed on a two-and-half-year contract on 9 February following the resignation of predecessor Javi Gracia.

Watford will now begin a search for their 15th head coach, not counting interim bosses, since September 2019.

Wonder if Parky will keep his job at Disney now he’s failed to get them up after spending a shed load?

When was the last time we sent opposing fans home crying ( promotion, relegation). Was it Leeds?

One of the best things this season IMO, Wexham failing in the last day.

I thought the championship would be too much for them and he'd be gone around January with them in the bottom half. But fair play, they've done better than I thought and Parky will get another season

They did buy some properly decent players. Few that would survive the Premiership but very, very solid Championship. Spent big on fees & big on salaries.

I expect they'll get funds for a handful more. However, in FFP terms their direct football income is limited by their 12,000 max. attendance. The new stand, probably a full season off, will add 5,000-6,000 to that but their spending will still be too high.

Just crazy really. They employ these managers then give them no time to actually implement their own ideas and bring in their own players. Just employ someone you have trust in and give them the bloody time to implement it. We all get wound up when our teams aren’t doing as well as we think they should and obviously frustrated with the manager but you have to give the guy a couple or three windows at least to get in the players he wants. A few months is just barmy.

Ah, cheers for the info. 👍

Bristol City have activated Michael Skubalas release clause at Lincoln, so he can now talk to Bristol City.
