The Managerial Roundabout

Shrewsbury potting Cotterill is an odd one,

Spurs possibly seeking a new manager around Christmas, not sure how he will do.

Gerrard to Leeds is rumoured.

Uri Geller to Wigan?

I know he’s not a manager but Standard Liege fans seem gutted we’ve got Fergal Harkin to the extent that some are saying he saved them from relegation despite having no budget. Sounds positive.

  • Are you serious? The guy brought us some fucking brilliant moments  that we’ll never forget. Yeah, it didn’t end up great but ffs.

Kevin Nolan in at the Cobblers.

It'll give him good experience whilst Evatt keeps his seat warm

I agree with your point but in Adam's case he has had 12 months - not saying that's enough, but its not like he only had 4 or 5 months like some.  They were relegated under him (not saying all his fault obviously) but I think they would have expected to be higher than 18th place in the division below at Christmas.

That’s true but they knew it was his first managerial position and a tough task so he’s obviously going to be learning on the job. I accept they’re probably lower than expected but it was a risk they took and I think they might at least have given him this window to turn it around?

🤣

I was surprised by Nolan's win ratios in the 2 jobs he's been sacked from;

46.7% at Orient and 41.7% at Notts County.

Puts our fella's 50% into a bit of perspective.

Presume success or otherwise is relative to expectation.  When he joined Notts County they'd lost 10 matches on the trot and were a point off the relegation places.

I always find it odd when "win" ratios are quoted.  Do draws count for nothing?  If we'd drawn a few of those losses last season we'd still have a 50% win ratio but we'd also have got promoted.

Or if we'd just drawn at Wembley we'd have had a penalty shoot out to go up.

Without context, is a practically meaningless statistic

Without doubt draws count. It's a meaningless stat managers like to hold on to. You could win 50% of your games in any season and be short of the play offs unless you throw in a good number of draws.

Successful sides either win or make sure they don't lose

Seen that earlier, think he might be a good fit for the Cods

Regardless what fleetwood think. He’s still welcome on our forum.

Carlos Corberan left WBA to take the Valencia job.

Supposedly £3-£4mil compensation, I bet WBA fans are laughing, they looked boring whenever I saw them, long ball and long throw merchants.  I wonder how that will go down in Spain.
