Still surprises me that those Argyle fans preferred the option of Buckingham over him - a bloke who's had a good 3 months in management compared to Evatts 1 promotion, 1 cup and 2 near misses. See id say Buckingham has managed to get an inferior team out of this division and that makes him a better option.

Or 1 promotion out of 4 seasons with a bigger club/budget than the vast majority in the same division, and getting worse. Buckingham 1 promotion in 1 attempt with an inferior squad to others in the play offs (probably). Certainly seems less of a gamble than the Huddersfield appointment of someone that's never managed any team professionally.

He got 42 points from 30 games as Oxford manager in league one. We’d have lynched him for that. Can’t deny he got Oxford promoted, but one off games versus a full season are different kettles of fish. Maybe he’ll be a great manager, but if I was a rational outsider, I’d take Evatt’s prolonged and consistent performance over Des B’s patchy part season performance.

Another who talked a good game.....Did a big article how he out thought Evatt with the high press Carlisle and then Wigan worked Evatt out six months before Wembley. They just got lucky on the day.....Nothing more
June 2, 20251 yr Bullshit. Evatt is the greatest manager in modern football. Just like santos is basically good enough to be in the champions league and Baxter is an elite keeper

Buckingham found a way to beat us. And Evatt / the players were caught in the headlights. Let’s be honest - even as fans, most of us walked into that game assuming we’d win. As you say, it doesn’t make Buckingham a better manager. Buster Douglas beat Tyson but he wasn’t a better boxer

I hope Buckingham gets the gig.....He simply got found out and potted before Christmas......Chances are that will be repeated

We have a consultatant helping with selection who used to be at Norwich. Hence Wiltshire and Wagner linked. Be amazed if chairman goes for another wildcard. Doesnt take a lot of bets to move odds.

I watched a lot of Middlesbrough and they were always an entertaining team and I think unlucky in the times I saw them last season but I don’t think it’ll take long for him to get another job and it wouldn’t surprise me to see Boro fall down the league now.
June 4, 20251 yr A couple of days late on this but just seen that Liam Manning has left Bristol City to take over at Norwich.

I’m not close enough to know if that a good job or a bad job etc. Cooper feels like he’s cut from the same cloth mind. Edwards and Brizzle seem a good fit. Defo a victim of his own success but think he will need to do something with these lot to put that slump to bed. Hoping someone takes a punt on Challinor at some point to derail Stockport
June 4, 20251 yr And none seem to be making a bee line for the best manager around!! I’d start looking in the national League if I were you Ian, it’s more your level.

Gibson doesn't sack easily. He does however suck sacks easily the big woofter.
