The Managerial Roundabout

Shrewsbury potting Cotterill is an odd one,

Spurs possibly seeking a new manager around Christmas, not sure how he will do.

Gerrard to Leeds is rumoured.

Uri Geller to Wigan?

I know he’s not a manager but Standard Liege fans seem gutted we’ve got Fergal Harkin to the extent that some are saying he saved them from relegation despite having no budget. Sounds positive.

  • Are you serious? The guy brought us some fucking brilliant moments  that we’ll never forget. Yeah, it didn’t end up great but ffs.

Fair enough.  Shades of Dougie Freedman for me.

I think you're right. I'd not realised how much he'd pissed other fans off during his time with us.  Still surprises me that those Argyle fans preferred the option of Buckingham over him - a bloke who's had a good 3 months in management compared to Evatts 1 promotion, 1 cup and 2 near misses.

Or 1 promotion out of 4 seasons with a bigger club/budget than the vast majority in the same division, and getting worse.

Buckingham 1 promotion in 1 attempt with an inferior squad to others in the play offs (probably).

Certainly seems less of a gamble than the Huddersfield appointment of someone that's never managed any team professionally.

I think he also has quite a bit of a coaching experience across different countries as well

He got 42 points from 30 games as Oxford manager in league one. We’d have lynched him for that. Can’t deny he got Oxford promoted, but one off games versus a full season are different kettles of fish. Maybe he’ll be a great manager, but if I was a rational outsider, I’d take Evatt’s prolonged and consistent performance over Des B’s patchy part season performance.

Another who talked a good game.....Did a big article how he out thought Evatt with the high press

Carlisle and then Wigan worked Evatt out six months before Wembley.

They just got lucky on the day.....Nothing more

Bullshit. Evatt is the greatest manager in modern football. Just like santos is basically good enough to be in the champions league and Baxter is an elite keeper

For clarity, I’m not necessarily defending the ‘Evatt Way’ but if I’m comparing the two (and taking emotion out of it) I’d take Evatt all day long.

Buckingham found a way to beat us. And Evatt / the players were caught in the headlights. Let’s be honest - even as fans, most of us walked into that game assuming we’d win.

As you say, it doesn’t make Buckingham a better manager. Buster Douglas beat Tyson but he wasn’t a better boxer

If taking our most creative player out of the game after five mins then attacking our weak link on our left hand side was working us out.

I hope Buckingham gets the gig.....He simply got found out and potted before Christmas......Chances are that will be repeated

Russell Martin to Rangers by the looks of it

I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.

See Jack Wiltshire is now linked to Plymouth.

We have a consultatant helping with selection who used to be at Norwich. Hence Wiltshire and Wagner linked. Be amazed if chairman goes for another wildcard.

Doesnt take a lot of bets to move odds.

I'd have him here in a heartbeat if he brought his missus to every game.

Yes, somewhat surprised at this one. I watched a lot of Middlesbrough and they were always an entertaining team and I think unlucky in the times I saw them last season but I don’t think it’ll take long for him to get another job and it wouldn’t surprise me to see Boro fall down the league now.

A couple of days late on this but just seen that Liam Manning has left Bristol City to take over at Norwich.

Rob Edwards heading to Brizzle it seems.

Steve Cooper early fav for Boro.

Carrick seems to have moved Boro precisely nowhere. I’m not close enough to know if that a good job or a bad job etc. Cooper feels like he’s cut from the same cloth mind.

Edwards and Brizzle seem a good fit. Defo a victim of his own success but think he will need to do something with these lot to put that slump to bed.

Hoping someone takes a punt on Challinor at some point to derail Stockport

And none seem to be making a bee line for the best manager around!! I’d start looking in the national League if I were you Ian, it’s more your level.

Dudes on talksport said his in-game management was shite. They never recovered from that wank start. Gibson doesn't sack easily.

He does however suck sacks easily the big woofter.

Haha I did hear his brother doesn’t go to the pub anymore

Interesting. A chauffeur driven Merc was outside his house on Tuesday & Mr. C got in dressed uncommonly formally.

I wondered if he had some interview on.
