The Managerial Roundabout

Shrewsbury potting Cotterill is an odd one,

Spurs possibly seeking a new manager around Christmas, not sure how he will do.

Gerrard to Leeds is rumoured.

Uri Geller to Wigan?

I know he’s not a manager but Standard Liege fans seem gutted we’ve got Fergal Harkin to the extent that some are saying he saved them from relegation despite having no budget. Sounds positive.

  • Are you serious? The guy brought us some fucking brilliant moments  that we’ll never forget. Yeah, it didn’t end up great but ffs.

Nice job for Evatt ... Just down the M1 from chesterfield...

Depends whether he’s still living in Chesterfield or not I suppose. Lost track of the rumours.

I think they'd be a really good fit for each other and more realistic than him getting the Cardiff job.

Think the previous incumbent was a sideways and backwards sort of guy ... The county faithfull may not take too kindly to that .

I think Williams may end up back at County and I’d love Evatt to get the Cardiff job and have to put up with Vincent Tan. A bit different to dealing with Sharon?

I'd love Evatt never to get another job in football. Kit man at Daisy Hill maybe ... at a stretch.

More serious than you can possibly imagine. He was a charlatan.  He remains a charlatan.

Though, tbf, maybe I'm being harsh on Daisy Hill.

To play devils advocate here, let’s just say IE had resigned immediately after the Oxford defeat. Would you still have him down as a charlatan?

Isn’t it about time we stopped going over Evatts time with us it’s over done and dusted let’s all move on FFS !

The charlatan, found out, would have been resigning. So yes. But he'd have gone before spunking yet more of the club's money & before 'found out' developed into abject failure and before his scurrilous person life became so obvious.

So it would 'just' have been relief rather than the extreme it became.

His first two seasons were absolutely fine. There was progression, a promotion and obvious mistakes were being resolved. For example, goalkeeper fiasco in season one was sorted in October, lack of midfield bite was sorted by Williams purchase in January window.  Even the third season was good as we progressed to make the play offs and won at Wembley. However, we were over reliant on Bradley and Trafford and once they left we could never quite get to that level again. Evatt just became more stubborn and we frequently didn’t turn up for big games and nearly every local derby. If he had left after Oxford he would gone with his reputation intact.

Huddersfield appointed Lee Grant as manager, 3 year deal.  Was Ipswich coach.

I commented on here 3 years ago (I had to check date) when they appointed another "coach" rather than a "manager" (Danny Schofield) that he'd last until they first lost a few on the trot, then he'd be out because he didn't have a track record to fall back on unlike say an Evatt or Schumacher.

He lasted 2 months and was replaced by Mark Fotheringham, he got 4.5 months.  Neither have managed since.

Big risk from Huddersfield, they'll be hoping he's the next Kieran McKenna but I bet the Hudds fans are underwhelmed.

Hopefully he’s a bad appointment. He’s supposedly been the strikers coach (which seems odd for a keeper) they’d rattled loads of goals before getting to the prem

It's ridiculous how easy the fashionable philosophy bros get opportunities

Didn’t think his style would work for us in Div3 where we’re expected to take game to other teams so not bothered apart from the waste of month of preparation time finding a new manager unless we give it to Colin.

Evatts available 🤭

I’ve always thought of the Plymouth job being a real good gig to get. Beautiful place to live in Devon and loyal fan base if you get it right. The only problem is away games are all so much travelling.

Didn’t think would even be considered given number of managers with Championship experience available but apparently he is mates with David Fox just appointed as Head of Football.🤢

Meanwhile David Ray our head of finance is heading to you and CEO Andrew Parkinson being poached by Blackburn.

Think I’ll go back to bed.

Just reading that. Well respected at your place or not?

Crikey, with Evatt here it was all Blackpool and now under Schuey it’s all Plymouth? Any decent players going? 😁
