The Managerial Roundabout

Shrewsbury potting Cotterill is an odd one,

Spurs possibly seeking a new manager around Christmas, not sure how he will do.

Gerrard to Leeds is rumoured.

Uri Geller to Wigan?

I know he’s not a manager but Standard Liege fans seem gutted we’ve got Fergal Harkin to the extent that some are saying he saved them from relegation despite having no budget. Sounds positive.

  • Are you serious? The guy brought us some fucking brilliant moments  that we’ll never forget. Yeah, it didn’t end up great but ffs.

Fuck me Look at all the SHIT

after Big Sam

Fair to say you get time as Bolton manager

Unless you are a failed experiment at continuity

Who is our most successful since Sam?

Megson and Coyle arguably had some success despite their obvious flaws. Then probably Evatt winning a trophy puts him up there

You’d have to say Coyle really. I prefer no one.

Evatt got promotion and a trophy

Parky got promotion and that last day

Megson didn't get relegated and last 16 in Europe

One of them 3

Put the pipe down

Parky.

Megson inherited Europe, Coyle took us down. It would have been Evatt if he’d managed to win the play off final.

Well not really. He’s the only one who was close to Allardyce realms.

You seemed to miss the bit where I’d acknowledge it’s a tallest dwarf comp.

Parky and I don't think it's that close.

He's also objectively the 'best' manager we've had since Sam by miles when you look at his CV compared to the others.

the worst is by far and away Freedman for me

aye, Coyle got us relegated but I've seen us relegated before

Freedman threw away the play offs on the last day by starting Rob Hall in midfield

then he gave us our worst start to a season in other 100 years, 4 points from 30

then the following season he did it again, 5 points from 30

all whilst telling us we were playing a new type of football never seen before with players who were his gifts to us

Didn't he say we were controlling the game without the football too?

aye that's what was I refering too

he studided the game in Italy, came up with that, and thought he was some sort of revolutionary manager

Not even close, that cunt Coyle was the worst & most damaging manager we've had. Most amazing were the number of subsequent jobs he got, where he consistently proved to be a disaster.

Lennon & Hill were useless ( Lennon was the only manager where I had no idea what we were trying to do & more importantly , clearly, neither did the players ) but at least they had the excuse that we were already on the financial skids.

That cunt Coyle had no excuses, he inherited a prem league squad, was given millions to spend & had full support from the fans but threw away our premier league place & the money that went with it solely through his incompetence. The cunt.

Has to be Freedman for tactics, results and dire football. That whole period is a blank for me because I lost interest.

I can see the argument for Coyle though. House built of straw on that semi final season where a couple of key injuries then exposed his complete lack of managerial ability and blew the whole thing down.

Freedman just edges it.

Best - first 3 seasons Evatt, before he started believing in his own ego.

Alonso all but done to madrid

Ancelotti to Brazil

I'd done with him when we spent the bulk of the game standing back watching Yeovil knock it about, on our ground, when they were bottom of the league. A horrible smart arse.

When we went on that unbeaten run at the end of his first season he was all "it's no surprise to me. It's down to the extra sessions we did over Xmas".  Rather naively I bought into it and trusted him. He was short on explanations for the dreadful starts in the next 2 seasons though, the football was dire and by the end he looked dreadful and like he wanted to be anywhere but here.  Dougie was an absolute charlatan.
